Chevrolet’s Advance Design pickup trucks are trending up in value. This 1951 Chevrolet 3100 is a perfect example.
Made in August 1950 (VIN code H), this truck was originally made in GM’s Baltimore, Maryland factory (VIN code 14), and it has been treated to a rotisserie restoration. It has the original cab, doors, hood, fenders, running boards, eight-board cargo bed and tailgate.
Dressed in a striking gunmetal or pewter exterior, the truck’s paint and trim are in overall excellent order. The chrome front bumper fits tightly to the body and the engine bay is extremely tidy. This truck has the following parts:
A 1967 Camaro front cradle with tubular control arms; coilover suspension with a Hensley sway bar; cross-drilled, slotted front disc brakes; and a modern chromed master cylinder and booster. There is also a coilover with a haul swayer.
Rolls on radial tires, size 245/40ZR20 at all four corners. Each tire is mounted to a REV five-spoke alloy wheels. The tires and wheels are in overall very good order.
Under the hood is a 1994 Chevrolet 350 CID V-8 Goodwrench Crate motor with the following parts:
Excell ignition coil and spark plug wires; Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock intake manifold; modern serpentine belt kit (not installed) and Edelbrock fuel injection. Backing this motor is an automatic transmission with a 1967 Camaro 10-bolt, 28-spline Positraction 4.11:1 rear end and Chevrolet Yukon axles. This truck has vintage air-conditioning.
Inside, it has a gray Good Guys bench seat, matching headliner and inner door liners and carpet. There are Dolphin gauges in the dashboard, four speakers in the cabin, a custom, two-spoke steering wheel with tilting custom column and column-mounted shift lever. Truck comes with an extra matching roll of upholstery. There is a cigarette lighter and telephone charger. Rounding out the interior is a classic-look digital radio with power antenna.
For 1951, Chevy truck doors had vent windows. Mid-year change from nine-board bed to eight boards per bed. Last year for 80 mph speedometer, chrome window handle knobs, and chrome wiper knob. New serial number codes: JP 1/2-ton, JR 3/4-ton and JS 1 ton.
