Here is one of the nicest 1955 Chevrolets I have ever seen. The color is gorgeous, it sparkles from every angle, the interior is just as pretty, it runs and drives like a dream, and it doesn't cost 100 grand.  What is not to like ?

So here is the story behind the car. The couple I bought it from had owned it since 1987. They restored it and I don't remember the exact year but within a short amount of time it was a running and driving gorgeous 1955 Chevrolet. I have all sorts of pictures so you can see what it looked like when they bought it, pictures of the restoration, and of course finished pictures. This car took trophies at almost all the car shows it went to, it was even on the cover of a magazine with a in depth feature inside. So yes this is a really nice car. Sadly the couple was having health issues and so it was decided to sell the car.  I have a few other cars for sale and it was never my intention to sell this, however my other cars haven't sold and I don't have room for all of them.  If one of my other cars sells, I will keep this.

I'm not a body man, but when you look at the body it looks amazing.  I don't see any wavy body lines, I don't see any orange peal, I don't see any runs, I don't see any bondo cracks, the body is just very nice.  However cars get flaws from using them.  There is a small chip on the trunk lip. In the front around the grill and headlights there are some minor things, rock chips/etc.   Roughly in the middle of the passenger door and roughly in the middle of each quarter panel are some really really really minor flaws.  You really really really gotta look to see them but they are there.  Are they a chip that was touched up ?  I'm not sure.  I wouldn't fix them, they are really really hard to see and are not big, you don't notice them, but yes they are there.

The chrome and stainless look super nice.  If your really really really picky and get your nose inches away from the chrome pieces, yes you can see little things, but they are too nice to change.  I'm sure the stainless was restored because its very shiny and very straight. Overall it looks very nice, unless your looking for perfection you'll be very happy with the chrome and stainless as is.

The engine is a 6 cylinder. I know your thinking geez a 6 cylinder, but hold off a second.  First off how many cars still have the original 6 cylinders in them ?  Almost none, which makes this car somewhat rare.  Secondly this has dual exhaust, a performance muffler, was bored 60 over making it 283 cubic inches, etc.  A inline 6 has tremendous torque and are actually quite fast when tuned correctly. Don't believe me, look up the "Pizza Man Corvette".   This will stomp a stock 55 with a 265 any day of the week.  I just drove this almost 200 miles to a car show, I got low teens gas mileage driving 70 mph, and at 70mph I was only running a quarter throttle. Need to pass somebody, those inline 6's have tremendous torque that a v8 doesn't quite have.  It doesn't overheat, in fact my whole trip it never went over 180 degree's.   It doesn't smoke, doesn't need 100 octane or any special gas, all old cars have drips so I won't say it doesn't leak, but there aren't puddles on your garage floor from it, its just a really well built motor.  The transmission is a stock 3 speed manual, works great. Backed with a stock transmission.  I'm unsure of the gear ratio.  Brakes are stock, but work great, you'd be wasting your money installing power brakes.  Steering is also stock, it also steers very nicely, I don't think you'd gain anything with some fancy power steering setup.  Tires have lots of tread, they shouldn't be that old, but I can look at build dates if you wanted me to.  The hubcaps look super nice, however in the middle of the hubcaps is a white painted area, some of that white paint needs to be touched up.

The trunk as you can see looks very nice.  Its detailed out and is just as nice as the rest of the car.  Does it have maybe a mark from a suitcase or lawn chair, probably, but none that I noticed. My son has a 56 Chevy, I borrowed his spare tire and jack for the trip to the car show. So the ones in the picture are his.  I can dig, I might have a spare tire/jack to go with it, but assume I don't have one just in case.

The interior is also very nice.  Essentially its stock. Its has the stock dash, stock radio, stock heater, etc. There are aftermarket guages under the dash for the important stuff.  The speedometer works, the temp guage isn't hooked up because the one under the dash is. The gas guage doesn't work, one of the blinker lights in the dash doesn't come on, and the radio doesn't work. Sometimes the turn signals don't cancel and you have to turn them off, pretty simple to replace that piece if you wanted to. I've never tried the wipers, I'd never consider driving it in the rain, so I don't know if they work or not. I'm not sure if the heater works, again are you going to drive the car if its 40 degrees outside ? Probably not.  The kick panels (that are down by your feet) show a little wear, but look pretty nice. Carpet is nice, there are minor marks from shoes, but it looks pretty good, seats look nice except for one spot on the top of the front seat is a spot that shows some wear.  I'm assuming someone regularly rode in the rear seat and that is the spot they touched to push the seat back forward to get out. Its not torn or anything like that, just slightly faded. My local upholstery shop said they could dye that spot and you'd never see it. The headliner looks nice, the door panels look nice (granted they probably have little things from people getting in and out of the car). The windows roll up and down nice, doors close nice, etc.  There is really slight wear on the door jambs from people getting in out/doors opening/closing, but again it looks nice. The windshield does have a minor rub mark from a windshield wiper, you don't see it outside of the car, but you can see it inside the car. Also the glass in the drivers door has a really small nick on the top of the glass. Not a chip, not a crack, a nick.  On the interior the only thing I don't love is the rear shelf. There is some white furry material up there. The previous owner had a scale model 1955 2 door post the same color parked in the rear window.  With the stock cardboard material that model would have rolled all over the place, where that furry material pretty much kept it parked in one spot.  Yes the previous owner kept the model car.  You may be able to just remove the furry material from the rear shelf and revealing a perfect cardboard rear shelf under neath it, I don't know.  Either way they are really inexpensive if you want to replace it.

I'll try and get some bottom pictures posted.  The undercarriage looks really nice as well.

Like I said earlier I really don't want to sell it, but something has to go. I do have a appointment to have the front of the car repainted. I do also have a appointment to change the windshield . If you buy it for the buy it now price I will include those in the purchase. If you want to take it and fix those things yourself make me a offer.

I deal with trucking companies on a daily basis for work. If you need help with transportation let me know and I can get you a shipping quote.

I will accept cash when you pick the car up or a bank wire transfer. I expect to be paid in full within 48 hours after you purchase the car.
