1950 DAIMLER MODEL DE 27

CLEAN TITLE IN HAND
THIS VEHICLE WAS BUILT ON JUNE 23RD, 1950 IN COVENTRY, ENGLAND WITH THE CERTIFICATE OF BUILD FROM THE JAGUAR DAIMLER HERITAGE TRUST ON HAND. THESE VEHICLES CAME FROM THE DAIMLER FACTORY AS A ROLLING CHASSIS AND THE BUYER SELECTED A COACH BUILDER OF THEIR CHOICE TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT. THIS VEHICLE'S FRAME IS ALL WOOD WITH THE OUTER SHELL BEING ALUMINUM, NOT STEEL. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS ONE OF ONLY 117 DAIMLER MODEL DE27'S BUILT, OF THESE IT SEEMS THERE ARE ONLY 25 KNOWN TO B.E FULLY SERVICEABLE AND THEY ARE ALL THE ORIGINAL STYLE SOLID ROOF DESIGN AS WAS THIS ONE AT THE ORIGINAL TIME OF COMPLETION AND IT WAS ORIGINALLY BLACK.

A PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE COACH BUILDERS RESTYLE "DIGBY" AS A SEDANCA DE VILLE (OPENING ROOF CAB) AND LANDAULETTE (REAR FOLDING HOOD) WHICH IS NOW A UNIQUE DESIGN ON THE DE27 CHASSIS. ALL DOORS ARE REAR HINGED FOR EASY ACCESS IN THE TRADITIONAL STYLE.

RARE IS AN OVERUSED WORD IN THE WORLD OF CLASSIC CARS OFTEN REFERRING TO ONE OF THOUSANDS. THIS CAR IS NOT RARE. FOR IT TO BE RARE, OTHERS HAVE TO EXIST JUST LIKE IT, BUT TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE THERE'S JUST THIS ONE IN THE WORLD!

THIS IS THE PERFECT VINTAGE LIMO FOR WEDDINGS AS IT QUALIFIES FOR THIS ROLE HAVING A WIND PROOF OPEN ROOF DESIGN INTENDED FOR TRANSPORTING DIGNITARIES AND ROYAL PROCESSIONS.OFTEN SEEN AT HIGHCLERE CASTLE, AKA DOWNTOWN ABBEY FILMING, IT WAS A FAVORITE OF LADY CARNARVON FOR HER GARDEN PARTIES AND CAME TO BE AFFECTIONATELY KNOWN AS "DIGBY"

THE ENGINE IS THE VERY RELIABLE DAIMLER 4025 CC O.H.V. STRAIGHT SIX AND TRANSMISSION TO THE REAR WHEELS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH A FLUID FLYWHEEL AND THE UTTERLY DEPENDABLE WILSON PRESELECTOR GEAR BOX. THIS CAR IS FULLY OPERATIONAL WITH A NUMBER OF MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED OVER THE LAST YEAR. IT WAS JUST USED FOR TRANSPORTING THE GROOM AND HIS ENTOURAGE AT OUR GRAND DAUGHTER'S WEDDING. THIS VEHICLE WILL SEAT 8 PASSENGERS PLUS THE DRIVER.

THE BODY AND PAINT WORK ARE VERY GOOD BUT CERTAINLY NOTHING APPROACHING CONCOURSE STANDARDS.

THE INTERIOR IS EXCELLENT WITH REAL LEATHER SEATS AND THE HEAD LINER BEING OF WEST OF ENGLAND WOOL CLOTH. THE INTERIOR WOOD WORK SHOWS APPROPRIATE PATINA FOR IT'S AGE AND PRESENTS EXTREMELY WELL.

Buyer is responsible for shipping costs. I can cooperate with your shipper. This vehicle is advertised on other websites, so I have the right to end the auction early if it gets sold.

Payment
Please, be ready to buy when you click. A non-refundable $500 deposit is due when the auction ends. The final payment is due within 7 days after the auction ends. Balance is to be paid via bank wire or a certified bank cashier's check. Check will need to clear before the vehicle is released and the title is sent. The winning bidder needs to contact me within 24 hours of auction end to make payment arrangements. Please, arrange all financing prior to bidding. If you are not sure about anything, please don't assume - just ask. I'm very easy going and will help in any way I can, but, please, be absolutely sure that you are ready to buy when you bid.
