1965 Pontiac LeMans Convertible

Having undergone a full restoration several years ago, our consignment of a 1965 Pontiac LeMans Convertible still shows beautifully.  It sports Hurst edition badges, has a 421ci V8 circa 1966 and Hurst wheels, however it is not an original Hurst edition LeMans.  The car is well done, and presents as an A plus!

Exterior
With Blue Charcoal painted steel panels that are very straight, newly plated chrome bumpers, split grille, and of course the Pontiac beak, this car is a very nice example.  Surrounding the stacked and canted forward headlights are pristine bezels.  Adhered to the sides are 421 badges, and some vertical ribbing accents with chrome edging on the  lower back portions of the front quarters.  On the bottom is a stainless rocker trim piece.  A very nice white convertible canvas top moves up and down seamlessly.  On the back are horizontally ribbed tail lights on either side wrapping around the back midsection of the rear quarters.  A horizontal ribbed shiny belt is between these taillights and adds some highlight before diving down to the rear roll pan and the wrap around nicely chromed bumper.  14-inch Hurst badged 5 spoke wheels are wrapped with thin white walls all-around.  This car just oozes mid 1960's style.

Interior
With deep blue vinyl door panels that have some concentric descending square stitched panels, shiny cranks and actuators we are met with excitement to get in and have our experience.  Doing so reveals very nice blue vinyl buckets in front and a just as nice rear bench.  These chairs all have diagonal ribs in the inserts and smooth bolsters.  Also an embossed Pontiac arrowhead is in the upper backs of all the chairs.  A ribbed aluminum paneled applique center console/glove box runs toward the front and sports a chromed Hurst shifter which has a white ball topper.  Floating directly above this console is the original shiny chromed horizontal ribbed plastic applique dash on the lower panel.  This has a few pulls, the ignition key hole and AM radio.  Above is a wood applique panel  with 4 nicely restored clean circular gauges inserted.  Next to these are the climate control sliders.  Pristine blue carpeting floods the floors and all the interior is nice for being several years since it was restored.  A shout out to the trunk which has one of the nicest light and dark blue houndstooth vinyl coverings I've witnessed here at CAM.

Drivetrain
Underneath the solid non-scooped, (not yet!), hood we have a circa 1966 421ci V8 painted in Pontiac blue for the block and intake manifold.  It has chromed valve covers.  On top it now sports a Tri-Power carburetor setup with small open side round air cleaners that have chromed lids.  On the back is a 4 speed manual Muncie M20 transmission.  The rear axle is designated as a 10-bolt.  Dual exhaust and Magnaflow mufflers are on for the exhale of all those fossils being burned.

Undercarriage
All clean, no surface rust and we are all structurally sound and looking just awesome!  Power drums brakes, independent front suspension, rear coil spring and 4 link suspension finish off our tour of the undercarriage.  The crossover X pattern exhaust piping looks like new.

Drive-Ability
A turn of the key and some serious horses are about to be unleashed.  I was smiling with contentment, and I hadn't even left the drop-off area.  A flick of the Hurst shifter and I felt the car power up.  My experience was a smooth ride, and it appeared that all interior features, gauges and radio were operable.  And the smile continues!  The horn did not beep but I didn't need it, if someone was in my way I just "blew" by them without the horn! (sic)

A well sorted out 65 example of the iconic Pontiac LeMans.  Plenty of nice smooth power, great sound, comfortable interior, and a working convertible, it does not get much better than this as I look at myself and note people would pay to have this job!  Why not check this out and leave with a fine example and a smile on your face?  Excitement!  Wide track style.
