EXTERIOR: When you paint a car black you better make sure it's straight, this one is! Yeah, I just walked around it and it is straight, no rust or damage and it fits right. Repainted its original Starlight black color and it is polished smooth and glossy. The roof was originally painted white, I'm glad they went all black. The chrome bumpers, headlight bezels, stainless rocker moldings all shine like new. The grills look new. The Rally ll wheels were restored and have new tires.
INTERIOR: Born a parchment interior and it looks like it was all replaced: upholstery and side panels. First, they gutted the interior and lined it with Dynamat sound deadener. It also got a new wiring harness. Down on the floor is new carpet, embroidered mats and seat belts in front. In front of you is a set of rally gauges including a tachometer. The dashpad was replaced. A retro stereo was put in the factory hole. Above is a white headliner and visors along with a working dome light.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Complete, professional engine rebuild with detailed invoice. The block and heads were boiled, magnafluxed, and shot blasted. The block was bored, honed, and decked. It looks like everything was replaced: pistons, bearings, valves, cam and lifters, roller timing set, harmonic balancer, etc. It's upgraded with an Edelbrock intake, Sniper fuel injection system, MSD ignition system and Hooker headers. It was then Dyno tuned at 408 hp and 488 lbs of torque! All the components look fresh and proper: power brakes, power steering, alternator, wiper motor etc. It runs cool with a fresh radiator upgraded with a Derale shroud with dual electric fans and a polished overflow bottle. The chrome valve covers and air cleaner are shiny; the metal surfaces are painted neatly.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted slick, weatherstrip and stickers were replaced. The trunk floor is solid and has a new reproduction mat. The spare has a matching tire cover.
UNDERSIDE: The front end looks like it was all rebuilt. It has gas shocks and a fatter swaybar. Rear suspension is rebuilt too with new springs, bushings, boxed control arms and shocks. Custom dual exhaust with a crossover pipe, Flowmaster mufflers and splitter tips. New fuel system including the tank to accommodate the fuel injection. The brake system was replaced and upgraded to disc in front. New lines, hoses and e-brake cables. Looking up at the motor it is still clean and has a high torque starter. Rebuilt Turbo 400 auto with a shift kit, stall converter and high-performance clutches.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and made adjustments on the driver's window, lubed the latch and adjusted driver's door lock, reglued a piece of trim and replaced a trim ring on a wheel.
Bottom line this is a California GTO with amazing colors. The frame off restoration isn't concourse but done very well and done very recently. Someone will get a beautiful Goat!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
