NO RESERVE AUCTION!!!
VERY IMPORTANT. READ LISTING IN ITS ENTIRETY. I KNOW IT'S LONG, BUT WANT TO BE FULLY TRANSPARENT WITH FULL DISCLOSURE. If you’re serious about buying, then you’ll appreciate the details.
With NO RESERVE, it is priced to move quickly in an AS-IS sale.
Here’s a chance to drive a Modern Porsche for just pennies on the dollar!
PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU PLAN TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION. EBAY IS NOT A GAME. AFTER YEARS OF SUCCESS ON EBAY, TOO MANY FAILED AUCTIONS LATELY AS A RESULT OF PEOPLE BIDDING WITH NO INTENTION TO PURCHASE. PLEASE SHOW A LITTLE RESPECT AS IT IS COSTLY FOR SELLERS. PLEASE READ LISTING OF THIS "AS-IS" SALE. THANK YOU.
Another great offering that will likely sell well below typical market value. Looking at the SALE HISTORY of these cars, most, with similar mileage, are selling in the $9,000+ range. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION, leaving a chance for the winning bidder to STEAL this luxury convertible cruiser for just pennies on the dollar.
PARTS ALONE are worth more than what this car will likely sell for. Custom GTR-F13 20" wheels bring this car into the modern era with today's cars and look amazing. Not to mention, the wheels alone are over $2,500. While the car runs and drives, even if it blew up tomorrow, just the parts alone would bring someone a nice profit on this car. The simple bolt off stuff could easily bring $10,000 on E-bay (fenders, doors, hood, seats, interior parts, etc, etc. Dig a little deeper and a lot of money could be made off of the transmission, rear end, suspension, etc. Again, car runs and drives and appears to only need a few minor mechanical repairs with the rest being simple cosmetic items.
Don't know that the repairs it needs brings it to the level of being a “mechanic’s special” as most are just cosmetic with a few simple mechanicals needed. For someone that likes to tinker with cars and fix them up, this is a great option.
Just pointing out the above from an investment standpoint. Can EASILY make a bunch of money on this car by taking off the simple bolt on/off parts and putting them on e-bay, but the car appears to be far from being a parts car. Just the few noted items and it will be a beautiful convertible "PORSCHE" to cruise around in. Very, very few opportunities to get into a running Porsche at this price point!
I am not a dealer, however, we do have a towing company and therefore come across a lot of Lien Sale vehicles. Most that we get are junkers that we sell at a weekly auction for under $2,000. However, of the cars that come available, we do cherry pick the nicer cars and offer them publicly. If you’ve seen any of my past listings, most go out at very low price points, well below Kelly Blue Book wholesale (trade-in) value. We are more interested in a quick sale than holding out for a few extra dollars.
Here, we have a 2001 Porsche Boxster Convertible with 144,200 miles. With German engineering, these vehicles can last a very long time. Great convertible cruiser with nice custom 20" wheels that cost around $2,500 alone. Also has custom green painted brake calipers.
Car has a clean title. Carfax shows no accidents. See photos / video, body is nearly perfectly straight, just needs paint due to scratches and fading. I personally, would just do a full paint job, but there are areas of the paint that still shine and its possible that the faded / scratched areas could be blend painted.
Car has some nice custom 20” wheels with low profile tires that appear to have some tread life left on them, but have older date codes. Recommended that they be replaced. Currently has 295/20/20 tires in the rear with 235/25/20 tires in the front). Wheels have some minor scuff marks on them, but still look great and really increase the sportiness of this car.
Lien sale cars are rarely perfect. This one isn’t perfect either.
As noted, car runs extremely smooth and quiet (see video). A little noise at the flywheel when starting, but once running, idles and runs great. As noted, we just put a rebuilt starter on the car. Now starts right up.
As noted, paint is excessively faded in several areas and has several scratches around it. Certainly needs a paint job for someone that want's a clean, shiny new looking Porsche. But, the body is overall straight with nearly no body work needed, thus is just a simple sand and paint.
While the exterior isn’t in bad shape, the interior shows notably more wear. Seats have several tears at the seams. More like the threading came apart rather than actual tears. Possible they could be stitched back together, but the leather does also show typical wear for a 23 year old car. Either reupholster or a custom set of seat covers would clean the interior right up.
Car appears to have been well-maintained per its Carfax history report (available upon request). However, as with typical lien sales, the service history generally stops a couple of years before today, due to the time it takes for lien sales to clear.
This has been a California car most of its life and shows an extensive maintenance history through 2011. It appears that the car then became a garage car for several years before it sold at auction in 2022.
With lien sales, we do have to hang onto cars for approximately 1-2 years before they clear all liens and are available to be sold.
All windows appear to work normally.
The car fires right up and seems to run and drive well.
As with any of our lien sale cars, we do recommend that the new owner take them in for service as most have been sitting for a year or two.
Now on to the issues I’m able to notice. I am disclosing everything I can determine by inspecting the car, as any buyer would. I do my best to be sure to include everything in the list below, but it’s possible I may miss something. This car needs some attention. We are selling this car As-Is. I would say to “expect the worst and hope for the best”. Thus, if I missed anything, there won’t be any surprises. The list includes everything I can determine from my own personal inspection, but I am not a mechanic and can offer no guarantee as to what the cause of the problems may be. If not disclosed in the list, any other visual flaws are disclosed via the multiple high-resolution photos and two separate videos. Be sure to view the photos and videos closely.
Seats are excessively worn. Dashboard has no cracks. Just one speaker vent is cracked. Trim pieces appear to be in decent shape. Carpet appears to be in pretty good shape. Other than the headliner, seats and cracked radio vent, which do stand out, when looking closer, the interior actually isn’t in too bad a shape, showing only normal wear and tear.
NOTABLE PROBLEMS OR AREAS THAT NEED ATTENTION, AS DETERMINED BY THE SELLERS PERSONAL WALK-AROUND AND TEST DRIVE OF THE VEHICLE INCLUDE, BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Having viewed many of these cars, this is certainly one of the nicer looking Porsche's. As noted, the exterior looks nice with some added sportiness due to the wheels and tinted windows and has only relatively minor damage, as noted above.
The interior, at first glance, appears to be pretty rough due to the seats and headliner standing out, but when you look closer, it’s really not all that bad, noting that the remaining trim pieces all appear to be in pretty good shape aside from some typical scuff marks here and there.
For someone that would keep and drive the car, replace the headliner, have the seats reupholstered (or put on seat covers) and the interior would look pretty good.
Service the car, replace the headlight housings and have it painted and this car would really be one of the nicest examples of a 2001 Porsche Boxster on the road!
Many items can be found on ebay quite cheaply.
Many people are afraid of these German cars after they are out of warranty as dealers do charge astronomical rates to work on them. However, since it’s out of warranty, makes no sense to take it to a dealer at their prices. There are so many other shops that specialize in German cars (Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Audi, etc) that charge 25% of the rate dealers do. These cars can be maintained and repaired at reasonable costs through those shops. There are a bunch of those types of shops around. Recently sold a Mercedes where the dealer quoted $1,400 for a door-lock actuator. I told the guy to find one of the side shops and he got it replaced for under $300. As an example.
Really is a great opportunity to drive a vehicle once priced over $60,000 for pennies on the dollar. Looks exceptionally well for this age and mileage. I’ve seen far worse examples from cars half this one’s age and with under 100,000 miles.
PRICE REFLECTS IT BEING SOLD IN AS-IS CONDITION. SELLER OFFERS NO WRITTEN, EXPRESSED NOR IMPLIED WARRANTY OR GUARANTEES. BUYER ACCEPTS THIS BY CHOOSING TO BID ON THE VEHICLE. AS NOTED, IT IS A 23 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. AS WITH ANY VEHICLE OF THIS AGE, IT’S LIKELY TO NEED SOME GENERAL REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE.
As with all of our lien sales, the cars are sold As-Is. I’ve done a walk around and inspection of the vehicle and noted any areas in need of attention that are visible. This one, has some items that stand out, but most are cosmetic and none of the error codes appear to be related to any engine / emissions issues. However, the seller offers no written, expressed nor implied guarantees or warranty of any kind. I am not a dealer and therefore do not have a pre-certified inspection process. I view the car just as any buyer would when we acquire them.
The car is likely to sell well below what many sell for. The discounted price is the benefit to the buyer. The seller will not contribute towards any cost of repairs, maintenance or repairs it may need. The likely reduced price it sells at as a result of NO RESERVE auction is the sellers contribution to the buyer, nothing that it’s likely to sell at well below market value price. With no reserve, it is priced to move quickly in an AS-IS sale.
I’ve included several high-resolution photos to show its condition as well as a link to a full walk-around video. Any items I may have missed and not disclosed in the notes above, likely can be seen in the photos and videos. View them closely.
BUYER AGREES TO HAVING KNOWLEDGE OF THE SELLERS DISCLOSURES NOTED ABOVE REGARDING THE KNOWN ITEMS THAT CURRENTLY NEED ATTENTION. WHILE NOT APPARENT TO THE SELLER, THE BUYER ACCEPTS THAT THERE COULD BE OTHER ISSUES IN NEED OF ATTENTION. THE SELLER HAS NOTED ANY ITEMS THAT WERE ABLE TO BE DETERMINED VIA A WALK-AROUND AND TEST DRIVE OF THE VEHICLE.
THE BUYER ACCEPTS FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE VEHICLE'S CONDITION AND TAKES FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE VEHICLE UPON TAKING POSSESSION. BUYER FULLY UNDERSTANDS THAT THIS IS A 23 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH OVER 144,000 MILES. IT RUNS AND DRIVES, HOWEVER, IT IS NOT A NEW CAR. AS IS TYPICAL OF ANY CAR, IT WILL NEED MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS OVER TIME. TYPICAL WEAR AND TEAR ITEMS ARE CONSIDERED TO BE A PART OF TYPICAL MAINTENANCE, WHICH THE BUYER ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY TO DO AND ACCEPTS THE VEHICLE IN ITS FULLY AS-IS CONDITION BY COMPLETING THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. NO APPARENT ERROR CODES NOTED THAT ARE RELATED TO ENGINE OR EMISSIONS, DOESN’T APPEAR TO BE ANY REASON IT WOULDN’T PASS SMOG AGAIN. HOWEVER, THE BUYER TAKES ON FULL RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SMOGGED AND ANY OTHER NECESSARY INSPECTIONS OR FEES REQUIRED TO REGISTER AND TITLE THE VEHICLE.
I RECENTLY ACQUIRED THE CAR VIA A LIEN SALE. CAR IS NOW FREE AND CLEAR WITH ALL LOANS / LIENS PAID OFF. As part of the as-is sale, seller will provide the buyer with all lien-sale paperwork necessary to register and title the vehicle, including documentation that all liens have been satisfied. As with any used car purchase, buyer is responsible for all costs associated with getting the car smogged and registering the car into their own name. As with all lien sales, due to the time the car has to sit to clear leans, registration is often backdated a couple of years and will need to be paid, if sold to a California buyer. If sold to an out of state buyer, no back fees are due. All loans / liens are already paid off. If sold to a California buyer, happy to go with you to my local DMV to ensure an easy transaction as I've sold several of these over the past year. CHECK MY EBAY FEEDBACK. VERY EASY PROCESS. HAVE HAD VERY HAPPY BUYERS AS I DO ALL I CAN TO DISCLOSE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IN AN EFFORT TO UNDER-PROMISE AND OVER-DELIVER. I ALSO DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO ASSIST IN MAKING THIS A SMOOTH AND EASY TRANSACTION. I AM FLEXIBLE AND WILL WORK WITH THE BUYER IF DEADLINES CAN'T BE MET PRECISELY, AS LONG AS THE BUYER COMMUNICATES OPENLY WITH ME. MOST NOTABLY, WE ARE INTERESTED IN A QUICK SALE RATHER THAN HOLDING OUT FOR THE LAST FEW DOLLARS. BUYERS OF MY CARS ALWAYS GET VERY, VERY GOOD DEALS. MOST SELLING OVER 40-60% LOWER THAN WHAT OTHER ONES SELL FOR.
I CAN ASSURE THAT CALIFORNIA AND TEXAS HAVE NO ISSUES WITH LIEN SALE PURCHASES BY THE PUBLIC, HAVING SOLD CARS TO BUYERS IN BOTH STATES AND NEVER HAVING HAD A PROBLEM. SIMPLY DUE TO LACK OF EXPERIENCE SINCE I HAVEN’T SOLD TO BUYERS FROM OTHER STATES, I CANNOT ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE WHAT THEIR PROCESSES ARE. IF YOU ARE NOT FROM TEXAS OR CALIFORNIA, I WOULD RECOMMEND CHECKING WITH YOUR LOCAL DMV TO ENSURE THAT THEY HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH LIEN SALE PURCHASES. WOULDN’T IMAGINE THAT THEY WOULD, BUT IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER TO BE SURE. THE WORST CASE SCENARIO WOULD BE THAT THEY MAY REQUIRE THE CAR BEING REGISTERED / TITLED IN CALIFORNIA FIRST, THEN TRANSFERRED TO YOUR STATE. THAT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY AS MOST STATES HAVE SIMILAR RULES.
AS NOTED ABOVE, LIEN SALES TAKE 1-2 YEARS TO CLEAR. APPEARS THE CAR WAS LAST REGISTERED IN 2011. USUALLY, AFTER 9 YEARS, MOST OF THE PENALTIES DROP OFF. THERE MAY BE A COUPLE OF YEARS OF PAST REGISTRATION DUE. FOR A 23 YEAR OLD CAR, THEY SHOULDN’T BE MUCH. NATURALLY, 2024 AND SALE TAXES NEED TO BE PAID REGARDLESS. SO APPEARS, SHOULD ONLY NEED 2023 TO BE CAUGHT UP. AGAIN, NO GUARANTEES ON THIS, SIMPLY GOING BY THE REGISTRATION HISTORY IN CAR FAX. I RAN A CHECK THROUGH CA DMV AND APPEARS THE BACK REGISTRATION COSTS ARE LESS THAN $700 (NOT INCLUDING CURRENT YEAR REGISTRATION, TITLE TRANSFER AND SALES TAX FEES THAT WILL BE DUE), SO THIS ONE IS ON THE CHEAP SIDE TO GET IT CAUGHT UP. AS THIS IS AN “AS-IS” SALE, BUYER ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY REGISTRATION COSTS NECESSARY TO GET THE CAR TITLED AND REGISTERED IN THEIR NAME. BUYER ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE CAR SMOGGED (IF REQUIRED) AND UNDERSTANDS THAT THE SELLER WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THESE COSTS IN ANY WAY, BEYOND THE FACT THAT THE CAR WILL LIKELY SELL EXTREMELY CHEAP. SELLING IT AT A REDUCED PRICE (WHATEVER THE “NO RESERVE” AUCTION BRINGS) IS THE SELLERS ONLY CONTRIBUTION TOWARD ANY REPAIR, MAINTENANCE OR REGISTRATION COSTS. THE BUYER’S SAVINGS AS A RESULT OF THE LIKELY LOW SALE PRICE, COMPARED TO WHAT OTHERS SELL FOR, WILL MORE THAN COVER A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS OF PAST REGISTRATION COSTS, IF THERE ARE ANY. IF SOLD TO AN OUT OF STATE BUYER, PAST REGISTRATION FEES WILL NOT BE REQUIRED AS YOU GET A FRESH START BY BRINGING IT TO A NEW STATE.
CAR HAS A CLEAN TITLE HISTORY, CLEAN AND CLEAR TITLE WILL BE ISSUED. NO ACCIDENTS REPORTED.
LOOKS LIKE IT WAS USED REGULARLY THROUGH 2011, THEN SAT FOR A WHILE, LIKELY CONTRIBUTING TO THE PAINT FADING AND MUCH OF THE WEAR IT HAS. AS NOTED HOWEVER, THE CAR RUNS SMOOTHLY AND NEEDS ONLY MINOR MECHANICAL ITEMS. WITH THE COSMETICS DONE, THIS WILL BE A GREAT LOOKING MODERN LOOKING "PORSCHE" CONVERTIBLE. WHERE ELSE CAN YOU FIND A "PORSCHE" FOR SUCH A LOW PRICE POINT THAT WILL LOOK LIKE NEW IF THIS ONE IS REPAINTED?
Youtube Video Link…..
Walk-around video….. (NOTE: Car is running for the duration of the video to show how quietly and smoothly it runs)
PLEASE - ONLY BID IF YOU PLAN TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE PURCHASE. BIDDING IS A BINDING CONTRACT TO BUY THE CAR IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION. FOR A CAR AT THIS VERY LOW PRICE POINT, I CAN'T AFFORD TO WASTE TWO WEEKS IN HAVING TO RELIST AND/OR PAY LISTING FEES AGAIN. I KINDLY ASK THAT BIDDERS SHOW RESPECT AND COMPASSION AND PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU ARE ABLE TO COMPLETE THE SALE.
IF YOU HAVE ZERO FEEDBACK, PLEASE MESSAGE ME THROUGH EBAY TO CONFIRM THAT YOUR BIDS ARE VALID. BIDS FROM NEW MEMBERS OR THOSE WITH NO FEEDBACK MAY BE CANCELLED IF THE BIDDER DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH ME BEFORE THE AUCTION ENDS.
$300 DEPOSIT IS DUE IMMEDIATELY UPON AUCTION END TO CONFIRM THE SALE. REMAINING BALANCE IS DUE, VIA CASH UPON DELIVERY OR WIRE TRANSFER WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION END (NO CASHIER'S CHECKS). DEPOSIT IS NOT REFUNDABLE UNLESS WE MUTUALLY AGREE TO NOT COMPLETE THE SALE. CHECK MY FEEDBACK. I AM VERY TRANSPARENT. IF YOU'RE NOT HAPPY WITH THE CAR WHEN YOU COME TO PICK IT UP, I WON'T HOLD YOU TO THE SALE AND WILL REFUND THE DEPOSIT. I WANT THE BUYER TO BE HAPPY WITH THEIR PURCHASE. IT IS NOT REFUNDABLE IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION AND SIMPLY CHANGE YOUR MIND OR DIDN'T READ THE DETAILS ABOVE BEFORE BIDDING OR ANY OTHER REASON THAT IS SOLELY DUE TO THE BUYER'S ACTIONS AND NOT OF MY OWN DOING. POINT BEING, PLEASE DON'T BID UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE LISTING IN ITS ENTIRETY AND ARE READY AND ABLE TO COMPLETE THE SALE IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION. THANK YOU!
BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKING UP THE VEHICLE AND/OR MAKING ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE IT SHIPPED / TRANSPORTED TO YOUR LOCATION. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PICKING UP THE TRUCK OR HAVING IT SHIPPED / TRANSPORTED TO THE BUYER'S LOCATION.
THIS IS AN AS-IS LISTING OF A 23 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH OVER 144,000 MILES ON IT. WHILE THE CAR APPEARS TO RUN AND DRIVE WELL, IT IS FULLY DISCLOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ACQUIRED THROUGH A LIEN SALE TRANSACTION. WHILE THIS IS CONSIDERED TO BE A PRIVATE PARTY SALE, THE SELLER HAS NOT HAD THE CAR INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC TO DETERMINE ANY ISSUES BEYOND WHAT ARE READILY NOTABLE THROUGH A WALK-AROUND AND TEST DRIVE OF THE VEHICLE.
IT IS AN "AS-IS" SALE. THIS IS THE PRIMARY REASON WHY IT IS BEING SOLD IN A NO RESERVE AUCTION AND WILL LIKELY SELL AT WAY BELOW MARKET VALUE. THE VERY LOW PRICE TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THAT IT COULD NEED SOME REPAIRS. AGAIN, THE SELLER HAS DISCLOSED ANY KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE CAR. BASED ON MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION, IT DOESN’T APPEAR TO NEED MUCH (BEYOND WHAT IS DISCLOSED ABOVE), BUT I AM IN NO WAY, A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC QUALIFIED TO OFFER AN OPINION BEYOND JUST A PERSONAL OPINION.
BUYER ACCEPTS FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL REPAIRS THE CAR MAY NEED. THE SELLER IS NOT AWARE OF ANY OTHER KNOWN ISSUES. AGAIN, THE VERY LOW PRICE IT WILL SELL AT, TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THAT THIS IS A 16 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT COULD BE IN NEED OF MAINTENANCE AND POSSIBLY SOME REPAIRS.
CAR WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY SELL FAR LOWER THAN WHAT OTHER SIMILAR CARS ARE SELLING FOR. THAT HUGE PRICE REDUCTION IS THE SELLER’S ONLY ASSISTANCE TOWARD MAINTENANCE OR MAKING ANY REPAIRS NECESSARY. THE SELLER WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE TOWARD ANY REPAIRS ONCE THE SALE IS FINAL, REGARDLESS IF ADDITIONAL ITEMS ARE DISCOVERED.
