This 1961 Volkswagen Type 2 is a twin double-door panel van that had camper windows installed upon original delivery.

It is finished in pink and white and powered by a 1,600cc dual-port flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. The bus was acquired in Montana by 2009 and relocated to California. Work done during the refurb included a repaint, replacement of the engine, and installation of a lowering suspension.

Features include Safari windows, dual chrome side-view mirrors, camper windows, aftermarket gauges, a deep sump, and an oil cooler along with Wolfgang International swing arms and front spindles.

The 15? powder-coated white wheels wear pink VW-branded hubcaps and 195/60 front and 195/65 rear Bridgestone Potenza G019 GRID tires.

The bus was refinished in pink and white, and exterior equipment includes powder-coated white bumpers with overriders, dual chrome side mirrors, driver and passenger-side barn doors, and front and rear safari windows. The driver’s door lock is broken and a small dent in the left rear corner as seen in the pictures.

The cabin features a front bench upholstered in black vinyl joined by matching rubber flooring and a body-colored dash. Amenities include sliding side windows, an overhead fresh-air box, and an aftermarket cup holder.

The rear interior is a blank canvas that is ready for the new owner to take it to the next level.

Dual swing-out side doors provide access to the rear compartment that features a wooden bench with a folding backrest.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a VDO speedometer. A tachometer and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure and temperature are mounted in an overhead panel. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 59k miles and total mileage is unknown.

Power is provided by a replacement 1,600cc dual-port flat-four which features a deep sump, a full-flow oil filter, and a 96 plate oil cooler. Service in April 2021 included rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the spark plugs and fuel filter, and an oil change.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle with a 4.37 final drive and .82 4th gear. Additional underbody photos are available in the link listed below as well as a startup and drive video.
