1962 CATALINA 2 DR SPORT COUPE. A Nostalgia Super Stocker that ran at Englishtown, Island and Atco NJ, known as SUPER DUTY SAVAGE. As a bracket car, it ran consistent 10.3's @ 127+. The car is street able for cruise nights with proper DOT tires. Front tires are DOT w/Pontiac "8 Luggers" for thar period correct look. Grand Prix grills give the "Feral Cat" a different look and at the same time take a few pounds off the nose. (a trick from the old days when the NHRA tech inspectors were not aware of the weight savings) Speaking of weight, what was 4300 lbs has been reduced to 3400 with fiberglass fenders, hood, bumpers, deck lid etc. The roll bar and other safety equipment enable 10.00 compliance. The engine is a 428 w/ 455 forged crank, Eagle rods, roller cam, ported Edelbrock heads, Victor intake, 1050 Holley Dominator, MSD ignition, Mad Dog headers, and Flowmaster mufflers. The engine dyno'd at 645 HP, has 6 pulls and 20 passes since rebuilt with a new forged crankshaft. The transmission is a turbo 350 (M38) with simply a good sprag, shift kit, and a modified governor to upshift automatically in drive like they were designed originally to do. Two convertors included are 9" Dynamics and 10" Transmission Specialties. Optional transmission available to the purchaser is a Powerglide w/transbrake. Both have transhields. A Mark Williams 3 1/2" Driveshaft delivers all the torque to the narrowed Pontiac 9.3" rear. Back halved by Hansen Racing Middlesex NJ. w/ large wheel tubs, custom built ladder bars, 3"chrome moly axle tubes, 4.10 gears w/ spool , 35 spline Moser axles, 5/8" wheel studs and Strange double adjustable coil overs get the power to the ground via 14 x 32's. I am only the second owner of this car and have the original invoice from the dealer as well as PHS documentation for this once was a grocery getter. Additional items available to the purchaser before listing on ebay. Thank you for looking and good luck. Pontiac Paul (Feral Cat)
