Engine

The 1953 Plymouth 217 cu. in. 6-cylinder engine has been bored.030" with .125" milled off the head to bring the compression rationup to 8.1:1. It has a high-lift reground cam from Daytona Cams of Daytona, FL.This electronic ignition is from a 250 cu. in. Chevy 6-cylinder. It has ahomemade intake manifold and split exhaust headers with a Rochester Varijetcarb, in addition to a 2" exhaust with Smithy's glass packs.

 

Body and Frame

The body is a fiberglass reproduction made by Frank Miller's Coachand Chassis Works of Pittsburgh, PA. It has 1950's taillights and is painted1970 Plymouth "Banana Yellow". The frame is from a 1933 Plymouthsedan and has been fully boxed. The grill is from a 1933 Essex Terraplane.

 

Rear Axle and Suspension

Power Drive of Wichita made a driveshaft to connect the 1968 Dodge8 1/4" rear end with 3.73 gears. The rear wheels are homemade from 1951Plymouth centers and 15x7 rims. The original rear springs were shortened withnew main leaves and installed on the inside of the frame rails.

 

Transmission

The transmission comes from a 1987 Mustang: a Borg Warner 5-speedwith overdrive. It is mated to the Plymouth flywheel housing with a homemadeadapter.

 

Front Axle and Suspension

The front axle from a 1936 Dodge truck has been fitted with 1972Chevelle disc brakes. The front wheels are from a 1951 Chevy car. The frontsuspension is all homemade, using 1933 Plymouth springs. The main leaves weremade by Atlas Spring and Axle. The steering gear comes from an early modelChevy Vega, while the steering column and wheel are from a 1952 Plymouthpassenger car
