I've revised the listing by adding some additional pictures based on emails I received.
...... Selling my 1948 Packard. Low mile, super original car. Original paint, chrome, stainless. 100% Original interior in exceptional condition. 288 cubic inch straight 8 engine. Engine was partially rebuilt in the 1980's by the 2nd owner at around 25,000 miles. The original owner had a spun bearing and garaged the car for nearly 30 years. The 2nd owner had that fixed along with a general professional rebuild and then garaged the car for another nearly 30 years. No rust through anywhere, no rot. Original floors, undercarriage has the typical surface rust but no more. Surface rust in trunk floor but again, zero rust through, none. Front left fender has a few small dings. Various paint flaking, scratches, small door dings. Chrome has fog, is lifted up, peeled off in some areas. Chrome has greenish vertigris here and there from moisture, exposure to the elements over the years. All these things to be expected given age of car. I feel they give it character and it's why I bought this example. I was after one that was original, had that interior smell that's lost once reupholstered. I dislike restored examples, several things are just lost once redone. I've owned the car for 5 years and have used it regularly every season. It's always stored in my garage and is parked all Winter, never sees salt. I tend the battery and top off the gas tank, add stabilizer every Fall until Spring. I'm moving and unable to properly store it inside at my new residence, that's the only reason I'm selling it. Brake lights/ taillights work. Headlights work on low and high beam. Front and rear turn signals work. Front right parking light just went out, just needs a new dual filament bulb I suspect. Speedo and odometer work but the speedo needle fluctuates up and down, cable needs to be lubed is my guess. Coker classic radials all around with about 6,000 miles on them. Carb was all cleaned up and rebuilt, new plugs, plug wires, distributor, 5 years ago. The generator is installed after I had it professionally rebuilt last Winter but is not yet hooked up electrically. It's in there of course to take up the slack in the fan belt. Regulator has been checked out and is A-ok and is mated to the generator as to output. All professionally done. Brakes were completely rebuilt. All lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, everything, 5 years ago. Transmission shifts fine and is young at 31k miles. New clutch plate, new front and rear U-joints 5 years ago. This car has the overdrive unit but it is not hooked up and working. Original temp gauge is not operational but I have an aftermarket gauge installed that works fine. Car runs cool, always around 175 degrees. Radiator is fine, was boiled out and flushed. Suspension is fine. Steering is tight but again, the car has not seen many miles. Doors are tight and close fine, no sag in the hinges. Gas gauge is not working, I go by the odometer to know when to refill. Radio and heater do not work. No mice have ever gotten to the car. Basically the car needs some electrical attention that it never got during my ownership. Wiring harness is all original, cloth covered. The meat and potatoes are all tended to. Engine, tranny, brakes, all excellent. As I say, steering, suspension, excellent. Roof mounted aerial had been bent at some point in past ownership and finally broke off. I added photos (taken last week) that show that. The base of course is there and maybe 4 inches of aerial remaining. The car just needs someone to take it the remaining 5% of the way and get all gauges, radio, heater buttoned up. It's a fabulous original example that is ready to roll. I'm currently running it off of the battery and putting it on a tender when I get home which it does just fine. As I mentioned, the charging system is not yet hooked up after the generator rebuild and I won't have time to tend to anymore before I close on my house and move. All my tools are packed away to move. Visor is currently uninstalled. Fog lights are currently removed, and backup light is currently removed. Last year I decided I preferred the cleaner look minus those accessories. Easy to reinstall. I got a couple emails asking to see it without the few accessories I've mentioned so I added half a dozen photos of it without these. You'll also see the shortened length of the roof mounted aerial in the added pictures as it broke off where it had been bent. Fogs and back up light have always been on the car from the original owner. Visor was added later by next owner and is not original paint. It is however an original period Packard visor, not a modern repro. I believe the spotlight works but I haven't tried it in several years. Also has always been with the car since original owner. Mirror you see, original. Please message me with any questions. Glad to answer as best I can. Please don't commit unless you know you have the funds. Car is sold as is. Please read the description carefully, look photos over carefully. I've done my best to accurately represent the car. It's a gem in my opinion that needs nothing to drive as is. Minor attention to some electrical details and you'd have it all the way home. I can help with loading, etc.. but transport is the buyers responsibility. I just sold my '61 Mercury last year and the buyer was elated with the car and the entire process. $500 non-refundable deposit required within 24 hours. Balance due within 7 days after close of auction. Best of luck to you, and thanks for viewing my auction.         ... Trent
