This 1969 Oldsmobile 442 Sport Coupe is one of 2475 produced in 68. Only the Hurst Olds option was produced in smaller numbers that year. The VIN provided here shows this example was assembled in California in the fall of 1968. The restoration began in 2013 when the car was acquired from the previous owner. The title search will show that the last time the title was recorded before it's current status was in Montana in 2000. When acquired the original 400 ci engine was not salvageable so it was replaced with a period correct 455 ci early in the restoration process. Since the vehicle was no longer going to be a "matching numbers car" it was decided that we make it the way l would have ordered it, "Triple Black." The car does still maintain a lot of originality. The original Floor mounted 3 speed manual transmission is still there adding to it's rarity. All of the body panels, frame and trunk pan are original and rust free. Most of the chrome is original and in good shape for it's age.The interior has been re-done but the car still claims it's original dash, console and seats. The radio has been upgraded with a period correct "look alike" digital replacement. It's irresponsible to use the word perfect when describing a 55 year old classic, but l can confidently say this is a fine example and a quality restoration of a rare american classic muscle car
