Vehicle Details

2001 Nissan Pathfinder. Clean title in hand.

We've owned this truck since 2015, and was my mother's daily driver for years.

Vehicle is well appointed, had new (at the time it was parked) tires, and everything was working with the exception of the clock and CD player. 4-wheel drive works marvelously.

Now, onto the bad.

Few years ago, sent it to a local dealership to have the rear main seal replaced (bad oil leak), and the valve cover gaskets done. Truck was running and driving fine at the time, and we drove it there.

It took them two attempts (how??) to fix the rear main seal leak, and I later discovered that they didn't replace the valve cover gaskets, but, merely RTV'd them back on (I did them myself later to see if that would fix it's new problem, stated below).

When we got the truck back, it smoked very very badly and ran very very badly. Lot of crankcase pressure it didn't have before the dealer took it. It's not burning coolant (and not running hot) but is burning a ludicrous amount of oil.

Dealer told us they fixed the oil leaks, so, that wasn't their problem.

Every shop I've taken it to says it needs a new engine. I redid the valve cover gaskets (and replaced the spark plug tube seals, which, they failed to do), hoping that would help, but it didn't.

Vehicle will not stay running, and vehicle will not drive. It will have to be trailered.

Expect it to need an engine replacement. It does not have a rod knock, and It may just be a head gasket, but, anticipate engine replacement.

Again, this is not a running/driving vehicle. It cannot be test driven. It can be cranked (and possibly started), but will need to be towed.

Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick up.
