About this vehicle
1937 Nash Lafayette 400. 3 speed manual with automatic overdrive. 65,000 miles. All original besides anything that has needed replaced since 1937. Suicide doors! Motor was rebuilt in 2020. New gas tank and brake lines and anything that was needed underneath. New metal gas lines. The entire underside was por-15 coated and looks better than most new cars. The interior was pulled, and the entire floor was repainted and sound dampening laid underneath the carpet. New exhaust when the motor was rebuilt. Sounds good. Not loud but you can hear it. New tires in 2021/22 and still have under 500 miles on them. All windows work and the car is complete. Factory blower and heat and radio! Havent used heater in years. If you zoom into the pictures around the seams, and what not, and around rubber seals, you can see where my buffing compound bled and dried. Nothing a little elbow grease will take up, but I took the pictures before I noticed it. Especially around the trunk. Has spare tire and jack and tool. It looks great from 10 feet away but the paint was not done very well when it was repainted around 20 years ago. Wasnt surface prepped properly so i see orange peel and imperfections in the paint. There is no rust to speak of on this car, it is very clean. Just paint wasnt done very well when repainted in early 2000s. Was always stored indoors and came from Indiana. Clean Michigan title and has only been in Michigan for a year. The day before posting it, just drove it 60 miles. It pulls 6v to the starter but needs 6.6 to start so I always jump it. I even carry a jump pack. Starts up instantly with a jump but will just roll over if no jump. 2023 battery and new battery holder/ wood and angle iron. Always runs and runs well. Just dont drove it enough to sort the draw out or why I need to jump it. The lower head lights work but the big uppers stopped working after sitting in storage this winter. They did work. Im guessing wire lose or some corrosion somewhere preventing power to lights. Thick binder full of maintenance records and motor rebuild proof and reciepts. Under seat and battery area was all redone. Lots of lights and spare parts in glove box. Even comes with original manual and three keys and one of the keys has a 1937 1/2 dollar attached to it. Great car. Runs and drives and ready for sunday driving or car shows. Could even be a daily driver if wanted. Does not see rain or snow and always stored inside for its whole life. For being almost 90 years old, this Nash has less issues and looks better underneath than our 10 year old Audi. Many man hours and much money has been spent keeping it all original and complete. Great Sunday driver. Fun car. Only issue to pick on is the paint. Re painted years ago but didnt spend enough time on metal prep so some "orange peel" shines through in sun light. Looks great from 10 feet away. Interior is great besides couple veneer wood cracks by dash. Rest of interior is in great shape being almost 90 years old. I have a option for shipping if needed. 234 6 cylinder. 3 speed manual trans with overdrive option. You simply let off gas in 3rd gear and it automatically shifts into over drive. Tires are still new, under 500 miles. Motor rebuilt and car gone through in 2018-2020. Was running and driving before and always maintained with an open check book. Battery is new in 23 but car has always had to be jumped last couple years, but its rarely driven. Battery isnt dead, just doesnt have enough Volts to allow it to start so I have learned to just jump it and go. I have been told that i may have gotten a defective battery or could be a weak starter. I love this car and it will be missed. Just need the space and money for a project I started. The front hood ornament is broken off, but I do have it and it sets back in place well as seen in pics. I may jb weld if weather gets nice enough. Motors runs great. Shifts great, strong clutch. Brakes work just like they should. Car is a driver, just has the voltage issue when starting.
