EXTERIOR

The Ivory exterior finish is also original, per the seller, who describes the condition as “fair to good, with a few paint chips and scratches” commensurate with the originality and age. No rust is reported. Photos provided appear to show the TD as complete, with a large chip on the driver’s side of the fuel tank. All lights and trim appear to be well-maintained and the lights are described as in working order. All original glass is also described as “good,” and the seals as “fair.” A tan canvas top and full side curtains can also be seen in the photos and are said to be in “good condition.” There is a small ding on the passenger side step but could be smoothed out with a good PDF guy. No modifications have been made to the exterior from new.

INTERIOR

The green leather interior appears to be in good condition, and unmodified except for the addition of a Moto-Lita style wood-rim steering wheel. All gauges and controls appear complete on the wood dashboard, including the odometer showing 83,066 miles, also believed to be original per the seller. He states that all gauges function normally. The carpet is described as in “fair” condition, with no reported holes or tears. No modifications have been made to the interior, which was not equipped with a heater or a radio as new.

CHASSIS

The MG TD received a greatly improved chassis compared with the TC. Advantages of the new chassis included a comparably sophisticated independent front suspension with upper and lower A-arms and coil springs, and rack-and-pinion steering. The rear suspension retained the live rear axle and leaf springs of the earlier T-series cars, along with their drum brakes.

No issues are reported with the manual rack-and-pinion steering, suspension service, bushings, or shocks, per the seller, who also notes that the tie rod ends have been replaced and that the brakes “are new.” The sturdy 15-inch steel wheels were another improvement on the TD, compared with earlier wire wheels. The wheels on this example appear in the photos to be in good condition. The age of the 5.50x15 tires mounted on the wheels is not specified by the seller, and DOT date codes are not visible in the images provided. Tires should be inspected for age and condition before the car is driven any distance.

DOCUMENTATION

The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean NY transferable title in his father’s name. The car is currently located in New York (Long Island)
