The result of a total restoration, almost every part of this bus has been restored or rebuilt, including the completely rebuilt powertrain, which is powered by a factory-original 1500cc 4-cylinder engine producing 65hp tied to a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission with an EMPI shift lever.
Mechanically, this bus is an absolute blast to drive. Engine rebuild and modifications include an aluminum crank pulley, adjustable tensioner and generator pulleys, a new carburetor and distributor, ignition coil, spark plugs and cables. The suspension, steering and brake systems were rebuilt with new original Volkswagen parts. The bus's electrical system was completely redone, from the wires and cables to the generator, and has been converted into a 12-volt system with an alternator, voltage regulator and battery. This Volkswagen sits on original painted steel wheels with original German VW chrome hubcaps. The entire frame and bodywork were restored and the van was then treated to a new two-tone paint job in Lotus White and green. This van also has a new VW logo and front grille, original side mirrors, headlight grilles and wiper arms. It is equipped with a chrome-front safari-opening split windshield.
The interior was completely restored and is decorated with a new custom interior with Ivory and beige white door panels and roof liner. The seats are original and were restored with new foam and springs and then coated in White Ivory and beige ecological vinyl leather. In addition, the van was updated with a large, retractable panoramic canvas sunroof. This VW is an attention grabber and is equipped with luggage racks in the rear and front, with the attached retractable stainless-steel and wood ladder offering additional storage and retro style to the vehicle. With the ability to seat 9, this van is ready to load up and take everyone on a trip down memory lane.
