1922 Lincoln Model 117 Brunn Sedan

For consignment, a 1922 Lincoln Model 117 Brunn bodied sedan.  This car was taken off of the frame, the frame was blasted then the body was put back on.  Our consignor states the body has original paint, so break out your paint meters.  He also suggests that the interior is all original.  All surfaces of this car will need some TLC unless you want to keep the originality.  Your choice with this consignment, but I can say it runs well and the engine is looking fully restored

Exterior
With a body by Brunn, this car takes on the fairly typical shape for the early twenties design.  It is bathed in maroon for the lower body and hood cowl, and the roof line and passenger compartment is shown in black, as are the fenders.  All chrome is lightly rusted including the radiator surround, front and rear bumpers, hood ornament and door handles.  The paint is showing age with rub off areas, as well as some cracking and crazing.  The beginnings of corrosion is showing on the cars lowers near the running boards and on the firewall cowl there is bubbling.  The gaps are actually fairly well minded and steel sides are straight.  Beautifully ornate headlight bezels are a neat feature of this early example of high end motoring.  The passenger roof is in canvas and has some cracking and a visor is above the front glass.  A stalked single tail light hangs off the drivers side rear fender as is a spare tire and another surface rusted bumper.  The car rides on 33-inch wood spoked wheels and 33x5 inch tires.

Interior
As we open the doors to enter we pass a light tan corduroy panel for each door.  These show some rub off of the fabric and dry rotting.  The cranks and a handle is patinaed silver and the window sills are all framed in wood.  Inside are two overstuffed wide tucked and rolled tan colored corduroy broadcloth covered benches.  These are showing wear with areas of runoff and holes where in the center see the foam underneath.  The rear bench presents a bit better with arms and wide tuck and roll and plenty of legroom.  2 jump seats fold into the floor and are of the same pattern as the benches.  Soiled and faded gray carpeting covers the floors and a fairly tight headliner is above.  The dash is all original and is fronted by a large wood rimmed steering wheel with a throttle and spark advance lever center.  Black painted formed steel makes up the curved dash and the paint is chipping off of it.  Some old original gauges and toggles are mounted to the dash front.  In front of the driver and front passenger the floors are black painted wood panels with the long armed shift lever and handbrake reaching for the driver.

Drivetrain
Under the cowled hood we can view a nicely restored and recently painted battleship gray 357.8 ci V8.  It is topped by a 1-barrel carburetor and has a 3-speed manual transmission on back.  A 4.58 geared rear axle is on.  Supple hoses, old but in good condition are on for the mechanical masterpiece under this hood.

Undercarriage
As noted the body was taken off of this car and blasted and repainted in black.  It looks like it's slightly aged but solid and rust free.  Leaf springs provide the ride and mechanical drum brakes are on the back only.

Drive-Ability
The car runs and drives nicely, with good functioning brakes, smooth shifting, and fairly easy steering.  As it gets moving it seems to have a lightness to its demeanor.  The seats, despite their holes, are comfortable.

A 1922 Brunn body example with its original paint and interior.  A blasted frame is sound and a newer restoration has been performed on the engine which looks great.  Motoring on the hoof end of the social ladder.  Show it, drive it and maybe restore it, either way it's a solid example.
