According to the Marti report this car is of one built with these options! Yes you read that correct 1 of 125,093 1972 Mustangs!
This is a solid non running highly optioned project car. It came from the factory with 351 Cobra jet, 4 speed manual top loader transmission, 9 inch 3:25 Posi Rear End, Air Conditioning, Fold down Rear Seat, Deluxe interior, Tachometer with full instrumentation, Rear Spoiler, Magnum 500 Rims, Rim Blow Steering Wheel, Power Steering, Staggered rear shocks, rear sway bar, full length console and Power disc brakes. Originally dark Green metallic.
I bought the car mechanically complete with the motor installed. It has a lot of Aftermarkets Parts including Offenhauser 360 intake, Edelbrock Carburetor, Hooker competition headers, Accel ignition, Cal Custom finned Aluminum Valve Covers, traction bars and full hurst shifter. I was unable to get the engine to turn over by the crank so I Pulled heads and removed the motor. It is not a numbers matching motor. It is a DOAE-J 2 bolt block but It does have the highly desirable 70-71 4V closed chamber heads, The transmission is numbers matching. They motor looks like it was rebuilt with low hours but got water in it at some point, the pistons are seized in block and cylinders have pitting It has been bored 030 over. I was told this has a Detroit Locker rear end. I marked the driveshaft and tire and rotated and it seems like 3.90 gears...1 tire rotation equals just under 4 driveshaft rotations
Overall the body is very solid. The torque boxes, fender aprons, rockers, frame rails and trunk are good with surface rust. Fenders are very good. Doors are solid, the right has a small area that needs attention as seen in picture. Looks like original quarters right is very good has some bubbling on wheel lip and bottom front where it meets the rocker. The left needs attention on front lower where it meets rocker as seen in picture. Trunk floor and taillight panel solid. Floors need some work mostly in rear. I would say the small rear pans need replaced and fronts could use some work in couple areas. Hood has a lot of rust underneath and needs replaced. There is some rust on front lower core support and above front windshield. Overall I would say this is more solid than 90% of non restored 1972 Mustangs. I know if I had the replacement panels in front of me I could get the metal work done in a week. This is a very good candidate for restoration
Interior is very nice shape including seats, dash, headliner and gauges
It is missing all of the glass, front regulators are in the door. Complete brand new 6 piece glass sets are available on here for $500 plus shipping. It is also missing rear interior Quarter trim and sail panels which are also available new. Other than that the car is complete. It has a chrome front bumper
Again the engine is out of the car. The picture of the engine in car was before I disassembled. If you want the engine I will put it back in loosely on motor mounts and mate it to transmission. I can put all front accessories in back. everything is there and bagged and tagged.
This car will be actioned one time only. I do not need to sell car and a big part of me wants to keep it but I have 2 1969 convertibles to restore in before it. Clean clear Florida title.
I don't disclose the reserve price. Please feel free to call with any and all questions. Located in Arcadia Florida 34266.
