For consignment, this beautiful Arctic White and Teal Mist colored fine automobile has been in hands of our loving consignor, the second owner since he purchased it in 1993 at an estate sale. In 1995 a frame off nut and bolt restoration was performed with 90% of that work being done by our consignor. It's been garage kept since the restoration, presents in very nice condition and is the winner of not only an AACA National Senior 1st award in 2003 but also an AACA Grand National Senior 1st win in 2006. This 2 door hardtop is a get in and turn key car that you and your friends can pile into and cruise over to your hipster friends house and have a fondue or continue on the show circuit capturing new awards...Groovy
Exterior
Arctic White covers the slightly finned metal slabs that are adorned with an array of near perfect condition brite work. A few inclusions are noted in the finish, but nothing remarkable overall. Fins were in the diminishing phase at this point in automotive design, but the fins make this car stand out from among its brethren. From the 3 front quarter panel quintessential "vents" to the horizontal tasteful V styled grille dressed with the Buick tri-shield and AACA badged with flanking dual headlights, and a rear quarter panel length trim spear that dresses the slab steel sides it is in very nice shiny condition. Stainless window trimmings, mirrors and wheel well surrounds add some more bling to the Arctic White paint. The glass trimmings also do a spectacular job of highlighting the formal hardtop roof design that is dipped in Teal Mist. On the rear quarters, a small comeback is made in the form of a light fin on top that frames the trunk lid on either side and really adds to the groovy vibe. Vertical tail lighting, within chrome pods that contour to the end of the quarter panels, melts near seamlessly into the shiny bumper below to finish off the body. Thin white wall rubber has turbine styled wheel coverings and this car is now bleeding 60's cool, right down to the LeSabre badge just above the back portion of the trim spear.
Interior
Clean and possibly original aqua vinyl mixes with some aluminum trim in the center of the doors, and sports horizontal stitched ribs with the Buick tri-shield hovering above the aqua and chrome armrests. These panels are near spotlessly clean and the brightwork and chrome remains factory fresh. The 2 bench seats, split back in the front, within the passenger compartment are covered with tuck and roll charcoal black damask broadcloth inserts and have shiny aqua smooth bolsters and piping on their edges. To keep the tasteful going, the dash is also aqua with a center of ribbed aluminum sandwiched between the padded topper and aqua steel lower and has a geometric shape to house the black faced gauges which are round and have a smaller round clock in their center. Various knobs and pulls line up below and then the dash turns to black in the center where the original AM radio is housed. Just above under the dash top are the climate sliders, and then the dash turns back to silver for the passenger glovebox and courtesy light. The dash top is padded aqua vinyl with no cracks or errors. Aqua carpeting, very clean and protected by black rubber Buick shied mats on the floors and an aqua broadcloth headliner is tight as a drum above. Due to the color combo this car tickles my tasteful senses while giving an overall feel of calmness to my person.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, in a well restored and nicely preserved engine bay with very little dust and dirt, houses the factory numbers matching 401ci Nailhead V8 with a single 2 barrel carburetor on top. On the back is a Dynaflow ST300 2-speed automatic transmission and a 2.87 rear axle designation. An overall A+ presentation in the engine bay with the black inner fenders, Arctic White firewall, aqua block and shiny black bolts ons.
Undercarriage
Thanks to a top notch frame off restoration there is very little to no surface rust underneath, just miles of white flooring, black suspension and black framing. An X frame holds it all together, and for the suspension I see front independent coil springs and on the back a 4 link with coil springs. Power drum braking is on all 4 corners, and a like new single piped stock exhaust is on the car. Break out the mirrors...it's showtime!
Drive-Ability
No problems starting and running and on the test track it was a fun drive with nice smooth acceleration, and bias free braking. Steering was a breeze and all was working just great. I had the benefit of having a friend along for my time behind the wheel and he was as equally impressed with the overall performance and attitude of this car.
We have in our presence a long term ownership car. Painstakingly restored and since that time a well maintained example. Always garaged and now up for the taking automobile that is decidedly Buick styling, and upscale hip for today's individual that wants to cruise and be just cool.
