For consignment a 1925 Buick Master 6. This car has a restored and rebuilt OHV 6 cylinder engine with updated bearings and a more modern oiling system utilizing a modern oil filter setup. The car's exterior is very nice and rust free. The interior needs to be completed for a full restoration of this 1925 model.
Exterior
All straight steel, all rust free and all painted with a wonderful coat of Bambalina Blue for the body hovering above black for the running boards and roof. The curved fenders show some scratching but remain overall nice and rust free. The chrome is nicely polished and in good condition, confined mostly to the grille, radiator surround, headlight bezels, and edge trimmings on the running boards and central bumpers. A nice visor is shading the single pane glass windshield and all other glass is in excellent condition. 22-inch wood spoke wheels in blue have a chromed rim all wrapped in very gapped 6.00x22 tires and include a rear mounted spare. The paint is shiny and running board tops have a rubber lining on top with all looking snazzy...Yowza!
Interior
A swing of the doors and the interior will need some updating on the mohair door panels which are currently water damaged. We note that the cranks and actuators are all on but need a good polishing. Nicely recovered front bucket seats are installed and are looking just fine and a rear bench is in, however is just the frame and springs with no upholstery. The floors are uncovered and showing in black painted planking with no rot. Upfront, a nicely curved dash in all steel painted black has beautifully shaped and styled chrome bezeled instrumentation. A large wood rimmed steering wheel fronts this stylish dash and is original and unrestored. Slightly soiled rubber ribbed flooring is covering upfront with the shift lever and handbrake is protruding towards the driver in the center. Above the headliner is framed with furring strips and chicken wire but will need the actual material installed.
Drivetrain
Under the cowled hood resides the fully restored and rebuilt engine which is all rust free and looking slightly patinaed, but real nice. It is a 255.1ci inline 6 cylinder which will produce 70hp. This mill now has updated bearings and updated oiling system to work properly with modern fuel and oil. It is fed by a 1-barrel carburetor and there is a 3-speed manual transmission on the back. The rear axle weighs in at 4.54 gearing. Stock exhaust is on as well.
Undercarriage
The underside of this car shows plenty of patina and just slight surface rust. All steel is solid for the framing and running board mounts and underside of them. The muffler and short tailpipe have holes in them. This car rides on front leaf springs and for the rear it utilizes quarter elliptical leaf springs with both ends sporting redone mechanical drum brakes on the corners. A 6 volt electrical system is in use with the battery mounted under the car.
Drive-Ability
The car cranked and fired right up. On the test track it drove nicely with very smooth acceleration and shifting through the gears is a breeze. The front seats are comfy but not what you'd find in a modern Mercedes, but this isn't modern and it isn't a Mercedes. That said, it does have working turn signals and brake lighting and is a pleasure to drive.
Overall a nice example which will need some TLC in the inside and a bit of spit shine and slight respray of the fenders on the exterior. Overall though, a good example that will not need too much to go and show. HEE HAW!
