1972 Mercedes Benz 280s 4dr with the Inline 6 engine and automatic transmission. Fix up and drive or use for parts. Includes paperwork for application for title, came from a mechanic's lien sale at a towing facility. We can process the paperwork(for a fee) or you can apply and get the title yourself. All mechanic's lien sale autos always get "not actual miles" brand on the Indiana Titles due to the State of Indiana abandoned vehicle policy. We have no control over that. The vehicle was considered abandoned due to breaking down on an interstate highway, towed to a repair shop and then left there by the owner. It was then towed to a tow yard where it sat for 5 years. A sale was held and the car was sold along with many others.
This car does not have keys, the ignition was popped out and a screwdriver is used to turn the ignition switch. Car will turn over with battery. Car will run a short period, 2-3 seconds with starting fluid sprayed into carbs. Electric fuel pump operates and the smell of old gas is apparent. Has two carbs, one appears to operate but the other needs some love. Battery that came with car is sulfated, defective. The brake petal is up and brakes operate. Rust is obvious on car rockers, pans, and other less obvious places. Car is relatively straight except for a 4 inch 'v' shaped scratch/dent on driver side front fender. Interior is above average for seats as they appear in very good condition. Car appears to be approx. 98 percent complete involving missing hubcaps and some exterior badging. There is no rodent damage or unusual smells in the car. The odometer reads 71,012; the instrument cluster is loose in the housing. Headliner and door panels appear to be in good condition, but some of the door armrests and other small chrome pieces are in the back windor or center console for unknown reasons and there may be a few pieces missing, it is hard to tell.
It appears the car broke down due to a failed water pump, but we weren't there, so that is conjecture. Car rolls, tires hold air.The front and rear bumpers appear to be in good condition with very little to no pitting and still have a shine.
