Here we have a true 1966 Ford Mustang K Code Fastback offered without the 289 HiPo and a 4 speed Toploader transmission. I might note we do offer Hipo motors parts and accessories as well as 4 speed transmission kits. Also available additional purchase are new and used trim parts to accent, even complete this rare piece. This recently acquired 289 high performance GT fastback began as a young man's project back in early 2000. After saving his pay checks he had a local body shop addressed a multitude of sheet metal work. From there it began to sit in despair for 20+years collecting dust and whatever else mother nature could throw at it under a carport. Last fall great things happened with his dream as he traded it in on another running 66 Mustang fastback we had at a swap meet. After some discussion and prayer we worked out a deal satisfying us both for the disassembled not quite rolling chassis.

After adding quite a few suspension parts we began assembling this shell of a vehicle and once it was put together as you see it. To preserve it we added a primer sealer to bring it all together as we offer it to the market as a good driver quality project. We started this project by removing some damaged panels and replacing parts as well as adding pieces as needed. With this rare car, we were able to complete the original look and fit by using a mix of new items like fenders, trunk lid, rear window upper panel, both valances are some of the aftermarket parts that are installed.  

The good news is we have in hand a clear Florida title and the complete front clip has all original stamped panels as well as the buck or build tag. Being a real fastback the roof assembly the hood, driver's door and many of the Ford installed structural panels even the cowl are all Genuine FORD parts too. During the build the owner added a 1 piece aftermarket floor, rear seat pan, trunk pans and the tail light panel. All the panels while in place need finishing touches and sealing to move forward with a build. I am letting someone build it to their standard driver or show its up to you.

Many more metal pieces like toe pans fire wall and even shock towers were replaced and need finishing to be bring this back to proper fitment and strength for this hard charging fastback. You will find the majority of the structural items in place to bring this back to the original look and design. To prepare for sale, this vehicle was sanded to metal,  primed and sealed.  Again this is a real deal K code car which you need to understand will need to be completed by a craftsman. The previous work & fitment was done but could need attention to assure it to be structurally solid & safe.

This is positively a fastback with an 09 in the VIN not a conversion with a 05 body designation like is pictured in the last picture we have shown of a conversion we purchased. We will be offering this nice almost finished 1965 fastback conversion in the next few weeks. If you have interest before or want them both just let us know at Mustang Masters where we have countless parts and over 200 project cars which will be sold as is since we have given up the rebuilding process. By the way we even have a pair of 289 Hipo ( K Code coupes) cars in the background. Again we buy sell and trade so give us a shout to make a deal as I trade up or down.  You'll find the exterior is pretty much all there and is in fair or new condition although it could need more attention to be brought back to life as it was for the customer who wants to start at a deal and save. All glass is there although other missing parts are the way we received it when purchased. I thought the buyer might wish to save $$ instead of me adding and driving up the price. Again additional parts are extra for so bid for what you see that's what you'll get.  

This whole car will need a complete build including all the hipo pieces right down to the rear end which is currently a 8 inch from a 289 car. Shipping is processed when payment is received. We usually ship via UPS. You must specify at auction close, which you prefer or it will be defaulted to UPS. Tracking number can be provided if requested.

Shipment usually takes 3 - 5 days from payment unless delayed. Delays are based on the order in which the payments are processed, complete information, touch ups (if necessary) and any special packaging needs. Occasionally shipments may be delayed due to car shows, or previous commitments. We strive to process your shipments as quickly as possible and will do everything possible to get your item to you as soon as we can.

United States Postal Service carries an additional $25.00 charge for package drop off at nearest station.
