Chrysler LeBaron
Convertible
1984's Chrysler Le Baron "Woody" Mark Cross Edition is one of the most unique automobiles ever manufactured and remains a pop culture icon, figment today. A rare sight, as one of only 1,105 ever made, she represents a wild moment in the American car heritage as a fascinating specimen which embodies both the industry's inflection point from the analog to digital age, and the silly excess, boldness & optimism of the 1980s. Having starred in 1987's Planes Trains & Automobiles, and as a central figure in Seinfeld as 'Jon Voight's' chariot (among many others roles) her most important part remains that of Chrysler's K-Car saviour and the most visible & eccentric evidence of Mr. Lee Ioacca's masterful legacy.
A move abroad is forcing the sale of the beloved "LeeAnne". Over the 4 years of ownership all minor mechanical & superficial issues have been fully upgraded & addressed. From new paint, fully-new interior seats and carpet to originally restored radio/cassette, complete engine service, rebuilt carburetor, brand new battery, new fuel pump, and more! All in, +$16K invested in getting it in tip top shape. Only 42k miles. A very comfortable and smooth driving car, and garners an overload of smiles and attention.
Unveiled around the same time as the "Knight Rider" TV series, Chrysler created its own talking car with the Lebaron. Chrysler sourced the speech synthesizer technology from Texas Instruments, creators of the Speak & Spell, and equipped the cars with a deep masculine voice to alert the driver in various ways. The car politely asks you to fasten your seat belts and thanks you when you accomplish the task. Similar prompts are used to remind you to turn off your headlights, or when a door is ajar. It also monitors fluid levels and gives more stern warnings for low fuel and oil pressure.
The interior features bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in Mark Cross two-tone brown leather, and the dashboard, center console, and door panels are accented by faux wood trim. Equipment includes cruise control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a Mark Cross-embossed center console lid, an AM/FM cassette stereo, a remote trunk release, air conditioning, power windows and locks, floor mats, and Mark Cross crested medallions on the door panel.
The LeBaron is powered by a 2.2-liter inline-four paired with a three-speed automatic transaxle and is finished in brown with faux-woodgrain trim over brown leather upholstery. Equipment includes the Mark Cross package, a power soft top & cover, a luggage rack, cruise control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an AM/FM cassette stereo, air conditioning, 14? wheels with wire wheel covers, and power windows and door locks. Comes with custom leather pillows for the back seat! This LeBaron is now offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean Florida title.
