During the late 50s and early 60's, America was fascinated with the space race; and what things would look like in the future as new technologies and new designs were on a rapid pace. The American automotive manufacturers picked up on this concept and futuristic designs and nameplates began showing up on their cars. The cars were lower, and sleeker, with interiors with shapely gauges to mimic aerospace cockpits, long rear fenders with taillights designed to resemble rockets or jet engines, etc. Vehicles like the Olds Starfire were designed and marketed in this theme. They were big, they were beautiful, they drove smoothly and they gave the American public a peak towards the future.

The car is powered by its "ultra-high compression" Starfire 394 cid V8 that from the factory produced a healthy 345 horsepower and a face-ripping 440 ft lbs of torque. This power is transferred via its silky smooth Hydra-Matic automatic transmission and applied to the rear wheels. The Starfire was a premium line of Olds and typically came loaded with options and creature comforts. The car offered here remains highly original with the exception of an older repaint. At 45,841 miles, this Starfire remains in wonderful overall condition and possesses great drivability.
