Classic Car Addict is excited to present this Japanese imported 1997 Mazda Bongo Friendee for sale in our Mesa, Arizona showroom. The Bongo is a minivan that stirred imagination of its owners and family; its popularly spotted in campsites and resting facilities in Japan. The most innovative feature was Auto Free Top, a giant power rooftop that was opened and closed with a touch of a button, creating an attic with a wonderful view. The cabin features front captain's chairs upholstered in gray cloth with patterned centers along with matching door panels. Amenities include automatic climate control, power front windows, and a center console with an armrest. The stereo receiver has been removed from the vehicle. The rear cabin is outfitted with flat folding center and rear bench seating along with power-operated sunscreens, climate controls, and center row footrests. The airbag steering wheel frames a 180-km/h speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. Auxiliary gauges display coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 206k kilometers (~128k miles). The rear bench folds into a double bed, and a secondary bed can be made under the pop-up roof, with enough space to accommodate two more people. The second-row occupants can rest their feet on footrests, and the cabin air conditioning system has rear controls. All in all, if you can live with having the steering wheel on the right side (which is, of course, the wrong side in this case), the Mazda Bongo Friendee can be a great camper. The van is finished in Indigo Blue Metallic and Silent Silver Metallic (17R) with gradient bodyside graphics. Features include an Auto Free Top power-operated pop-top along with a glass sunroof, a rear spoiler, pop-out side windows, a rear wiper, and a back-up mirror. The hood and bumpers are said to have been repainted in preparation for the sale. The 2.5-liter gasoline V6 was rated at 160 horsepower and 155 lb.-ft of torque. An oil change was performed in January 2024. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Vehicle will be sold on a clean Arizona title.
