1957 Jaguar XK 150 Coupe. This is the first year that the XK150 FHC was built. This Jaguar was manufactured in July of 1957 and is the #202 Coupe built. (So this is a car to have in your collection) This car has 8:1 compression ratio. The cylinder head is stamped V1274-8 (See photos on the head number that are stamped). Not only will the engine turn by hand, this car engine will run. (please contact me for the video). Car was originally built with black exterior paint and red leather interior.
This 1957 Jaguar XK150 fixed-head coupe is a left-hand-drive and has been in storage for 31 plus years. It was acquired by the current owner in June 2023. The car retains its original 3.4-liter inline-six and the original four-speed manual transmission. (See photos of the transmission numbers - JL 37809 JS) as well as wire-spoke wheels, dual SU carburetors, partial red leather upholstery, and Smiths instrumentation.
The Jaguar body is coated in gray primer, the Jaguar body is resting on wood blocks between the frame and the body (see photos) to the chassis. Areas of corrosion and body filler are present, along with evidence of previous bodywork. Headlights, windows, and all the chrome interior and exterior pieces have been removed, photos of which can be viewed. The body is surprisingly in good shape.
The car has 16? knock-off wire wheels with two-ear spinners and older tires. (All tires hold air just fine.) The car is equipped with its original disc brakes.
The cabin has been stripped, passenger seat frame is missing, rear seats are in the car (See photos). Door panels are red leather. The upholstery is worn, faded, and cracked. A Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, all the shown interior panels and trim pieces come with the car (See photos).
The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that consists of a 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 57k miles and according to the previous owner the miles are true.
The running 3.4-liter inline-six features dual overhead camshafts, two SU carburetors, and a dual exhaust system. The engine runs.
The frame was cleaned and coated under previous ownership many years ago. New dual mufflers were installed from the previous owner. (Not original mufflers.)
The car chassis stamping is S834202.
The following items are parts that I know are missing from the car -
1) Front windshield
2) Passenger seat
3)Tool kit
The front bumpers and rear bumpers along with mounting brackets for the bumpers come with the car (See photos).
New hood hinges along with the original hood hinges come with the car.
A new bumper kit that is still in plastic bags was purchased for car by previous owner that comes with the car also (See photos).
Additional engine parts come with the car (Please review all the photos). Window crank handles, arm rests, door panels, drivers window glass and frames, rear window glass and frames, back rear glass, floor boards are in good shape. Dash knobs and dash panel cover, door handles, chrome pieces for inside of the car and outside of the car all come with the car.
NOTE :
This is a rare project and hard to find first year Jaguar XK 150 coupe for restoration. The old rule of thumb is to "always buy the first year or the last year a car is manufactured". First year because it’s the most pure the car can be and last year because it has the most features.
