Note: This Jeep does not have a title.  It will be sold with a bill of sale only based on engine number – MD 65930.  Don't read any further if you can't deal with buying it on a bill of sale only.  Getting a title is possible through a title company or through the DMV in your state once you purchase it depending on the laws in your state.

Offered for sale is a one-of-a-kind clone of the infamous Willys 1950 X-98 prototype.  This type jeep was never mass produced as it was a transitional jeep Willys proposed in1950 with new hood lines to accommodate the overhead valve F-Head engine.  Only a handful of originals were built with no known survivors.  This project was completed in 2023 and was recently featured in the Fall 2023 edition of “The Dispatcher” Magazine.  I built this jeep based on the work of Bob Westerman who also recreated this missing link in early jeep evolution – our two are the only two working models known to exist today. For more info. See:  https://cj3b.info/X98.html

This jeep started with a donor 1954 Willys CJ3B running gear and body parts. A Willys MD F-Head engine was added and custom metal work was done on the grill and hood to make it look like the X-98.

Everything has been gone through on this jeep and various parts have been sand blasted, cleaned, repainted, or replaced with new, NOS, or reproduction parts.

Chassis and Drive Train: Frame and drive train were in good shape only minor parts needed replacing and some repair work on the rear crossmember and new front bumper.  The drive train, includes a rebuilt engine, tranny and transfer case.  New gears, bearings and seals as needed.  All were drained, cleaned, repainted, and all fluids replaced.  New e-brake hardware, and new cable, new engine mounts, new brakes including all lines and hoses, new master cylinder, four new wheel cylinders. Rebuilt steering box and drag link and refurbished original Sheller steering wheel.  Period correct rear bumperettes, authentic pintle hook. 5 authentic new 7.50 x 16 NDT tires on sand blasted and cleaned 16" original rims.  The jeep also has rare period correct Sears aftermarket front locking hubs.

Engine: Previously rebuilt correct MD F-134 engine - runs real strong and smooth, no smoke, typical slightly noisy valve lifters but not too bad, no misses, correct professionally rebuilt Carter Carb, civilian fuel pump, new manifolds and new gaskets, 12 volt ignition  New hand crafted wiring harness all working correctly.  (minor re-wire on rear lights to give you two brake lights and directionals  instead of one like original)  New hoses, newer belts, all new gauges and new tank and fuel sender, new fuel lines, new distributor new plugs and wires.

Body: New MD Juan CJ3B tub original take-out fenders, original windshield with new glass with new seal, custom hood and M38 style tailgate, original driver’s and passenger’s seat, and original modified rear seat frame.  New top bows, brackets and hardware, new canvas seat covers (Top is available if desired), original period correct 1950s dated gas can, new head light bulbs, blackout lights, enhanced rear taillights and front directionals for safety.

The original speedometer has a 79,825 miles on it but unknown what actual mileage is, regardless of odometer reading this Jeep is better than motor pool, almost like it just came off the assembly line.

Vehicle is sold as is where is. Outside of USA sales only upon previous agreement.  Shipping costs are responsibility of buyer. Will work with buyer to arrange shipping.

Deposit via Paypal, balance in cash or Paypal upon pick up or prior to shipping. No checks, no trades, no scams.

The "Buy It Now" price is realistic price, the reserve price is very close to that. This Jeep will sell as have all my previous restorations, don't let it slip away. A true one-of-a-kind clone of a very rare jeep.
