You are bidding on a 1968 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible. It is in its original color of #1554/Cherry Red. The original interior color has been changed from black to tan. She was manufactured on May 22nd, 1968. TheVIN # is 148838983. She still retains her original owners-manual, original brochure, keys, and jack. I also have the “Certificate Birth Certificate from VolkswagenGermany.”
This example is in stunning condition. She was fully restored back in 2016-2018 and purchased by the previous owner who lived in New York . When he purchased the car in 2016, he paid $35,000.00, shipped it to NewYork and spent another $6,235.00 for a total of $41,235.00. The previous owner was a Porsche collector and immediately stored the car on a lift, covered it inhis temperature-controlled garage until he died in 2023. When I purchased thecar, I brought it completely gone over and spent a total of $9,283.34. I have every receipt from the beginning of the restoration including all my receipts which total just above $50,000.00.
She drives beautifully, has lots of power, shifts smoothly, all lights and electrical are functioning, the sound system and Bluetooth aregreat including the hands-free phone mic, The convertible top is beautiful andfunctions perfectly, the engine compartment and interior show as brand new, she handles beautifully.
I will list everything possible that was done to the car during the restoration and during my ownership. Many additional adjustments and sorting can be seen on all included invoices.

LIST OF IMPERFECTIONS
Rear center bead on convertible top is slightly liftedand is more aesthetic and not mechanical. An auto upholstery can repair this.
Paint is in beautiful condition with no dings orscratches. There are a few spots where the paint shows a tiny bubble. One onthe driver front fender was more obvious, so I had a clear bra materialinstalled to prevent any further issues. It worked perfectly and is not visibleunless you know where it is.
The new larger motor and exhaust do not allow for heatexchangers, so there is no heat. I am an avid motorcyclist and installed twopigtails from the battery. When my wife and I drive it in cooler weather, Isimply plug on our heated jackets, and we are extremely comfortable.
OWNER BACKGROUND
I have been in the auto appearanceindustry for over twenty years. I havebeen featured in over 500 publications as well as an author for Chiltons autodetailing books and have written over 70 articles on car care. I am a vintage Porsche collector which youwill see in two of the photos. I storeall my cars in a temperature-controlled environment, all my cars are coveredand maintained regularly. Every month Icheck tire pressure and run-drive each car for 10-20 miles. I have owned a 1961 Ghia, a 1974 Ghia, aswell as three VW beetles back in my early days. I am more about aesthetics and not speed. None of my collection gets driven hard. I am also a collector and rider ofmotorcycles,
