1973 VW Type 181 "The Thing". Nice example of a survivor Volkswagen Thing. Fairly recent respray (doors were not painted). Includes a "bikini" type top that is blue in color and matches the front and rear seats. The body is in great condition with the only real rust living in the battery compartment as is common with most air cooled VW's with the battery mount below the rear passenger seat. A patch panel has been poorly installed but could be cleaned up fairly easily. Windshield frame and nose (spare tire area) of the car are perfect which is very unusual. This is the desirable 1973 model equipped with a factory gas heater and retains the correct engine and fan shroud for this year. Includes 4 window inserts.
If you are looking for a great driver VW Thing this is a fantastic option that is very solid and it has 4 brand new tires. With a little work this car could be exceptional...The fact that it has virtually no rust is "Very" unusual. I have taken a lot of pictures with particular attention to the usual problem areas look them over closely and feel free to contact me with any questions. Keep in mind this vehicle is 51 years old and is not a "concourse" example. Thanks for looking!
