Up for sale,1988 Pontiac FIERO GT, the only year to own if you want the real sports car version of the Fiero. In its final year of production, the GM engineers finally got to build the car they'd envisioned from the beginning. Gone was the chevy citation rear suspension replaced with the lotus style racing rear suspension. Also, the rear drum brakes were replaced with disc brakes now on all four wheels. The front suspension also completely redone, the dependable V6 likewise re-engineered adding a balance shaft, a T top and sunroof and 5 speed Getrag manual transmission were also available options. Unfortunately. it was too late and the Fiero GT ended its run at the end of the production year, I'd always loved the GT version but life and monies in the 80s made owning one at the time just a dream.   At 72 years old I decided to finally get one.  A relatively cheap last fun car, a ton of looking for the right one led me to the car I'm listing, It's a 1988, about as rust free Fiero as you're going to find, very low mileage, 5 speed, I listed the car a couple of months ago and someone pointed out that the mileage I listed didn't match up with the Carfax report, so I immediately withdrew the listing as I'd never intentionally mislead anyone on the condition of any car.  Over twenty years on Ebay and no negative feedback actually means something to me.   At any rate, the mileage info came from the miles listed on the title I received from the prior owner as well as the odometer in the car.  I think the Carfax report said about 120k. The current odometer doesn't seem to have been replaced, so who knows.  The prior owner said he had just recently had the car repainted the red color because the original maroon looking paint had faded and he simply didn't like that color. The paint looks great. The tires are good. I've driven it about 50 miles.  The car sounds awesome with the recent installation of new exhaust system including a new catalytic converter, also new or very recently installed goodies include the complete 4 wheel suspension including adjustable coil overs on the rear/new front struts/springs and upgraded bushings on the front end. The metal water cooling pipes that run the length of the car likewise redone (can be seen in pic of drivers front wheel well). The clutch slave cylinder and steel lines also look new.  The prior owner never mentioned that any of these very common Fiero issues had been addressed and upgraded.  I couldn't believe my good luck.  It also has a killer Bluetooth/stereo system.  Both the heat and AC systems work as does the sunroof and lights. There are no cracks in the dash or tears in the upholstery. If it were shampooed it would look new again. The car started right up and so did the problems, not with the car but with my 72 year old body. The car sits very low and getting in and out was painful. The car was awesome to drive, low to the ground like a go cart, the sound of the recent exhaust so very cool. it handled like a dream on the curves.   After my second drive, I woke up to a flame thrower going down my leg.  Sciatica the diagnosis. Getting in and out of the car had torqued my back. It's taken me a couple of months to be able to walk normally again.  No car is worth that kind of pain, so I have to give in to old age. You'll be getting a good car that could easily be used as a dependable second car, perfect for a high schooler, The braking system works as it should no leaks. but inspecting the rubber front brake caliper line, I noticed they were cracked and after your first test drive I'd replace them immediately.  I'm ordering a new set and they will go with the car.  Also a new set of rear license plate lights go with the car.  There is a 4-way switch on the center console that controls the electric side mirrors, it doesn't work, because of the potential front rubber brake line issue, very simple fix.   I'd consider this a project car. It also had the shifter cable replaced as it seemed a little stiff from sitting, The worst things about the car are two cracks in the rear plastic tail lights and a tiny rock chip in the windshield. I've put that windshield repair stuff on it to stop it from spreading.  New windshields on Ebay are $300. Used locally are around $150.  If I'd kept the car, I wouldn't have bothered with it, as it's so tiny. But that is a flaw I want to be up front about. The car has no oil leaks, no smoke at start up, and just purrs like it should. Good luck bidding.
