This beautiful B13 SE-R was purchased by the previous owner in the summer of 2020 from the original owner of 27 years. It lived in Southern California its entire life until he had it shipped to Chicago as a father/son COVID downtime project. The Carfax report reflects the ~27 year original owner and accident-free history. There is no rust. It was stored in a heated and dehumidified garage. The following items were replaced during his ownership:
-Water pump, radiator, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses, alternator, starter, belts, passenger side axle, 3 out of 4 motor mounts (trans mount is no longer available), front control arms, outer tie rods and steering rack boots.
-Transmission fluid was replaced with synthetic Redline MT-90; the 5th-gear pop-out issue was resolved by 1993.
-The yellowed headlights and cracked fog lights were replaced with like-new OEM replacements.
-The bumpers and roof were professionally restored (stripped to bare surface, primed, painted, 4 coats of clear) due to fading from the California sun and are impeccable.
-The old, cracked door and window trim was replaced with brand new seals.
-The driver's seat foam was replaced.
I purchased it in October 2022 and drove it here to Connecticut without issue. When not driven, it lives in my enclosed garage. Since then, I've done the following:
-Replaced the deteriorated sun visors with OEMs from a 1991 Sentra; it’s a slightly different shade of gray, but the contrast works.
-Replaced a cracked driver's door pull.
-Changed out the slightly cracked rear reflector panel with a 1992 one that came with the car; personally, I think it's nicer, but the original will be included in the sale.
-Changed the oil with Mobil 1 5W-30.
-Had the worn bushings professionally replaced with new polyurethane bushings. The bushings in the new control arms mentioned above did not need to be replaced, and the polyurethane ones that came with the set are still in the box and will come with the car.
-Purchased an original factory service manual on eBay as well as the Haynes and Chilton manuals. All will come with the car.
The car has the following issues:
-The air conditioning has no Freon; likely a leak.
-The rear aftermarket speakers were removed and haven't been replaced.
-The buttons on the factory stereo are worn, and the tuner display has burn-in.
-A few drops of oil after a drive, though the dipstick showed full before the last oil change.
-ABS is non-functional, and parts are no longer available.
-A slightly uneven idle when warm, but there’s no danger of stalling.
The exterior shows it's a driver's car and not a 100-point show car, so it's not perfect. There are a few small dents and several spots & blemishes in the paint (except for the roof and bumpers). Inside, the interior is in near perfect condition and includes a new-old-stock shift knob, new-old-stock floor mats (stored in the trunk and brought out for shows; WeatherTech mats are used for driving) and the super-rare optional factory armrest. The only issue is fading window cranks and a plastic piece missing from the passenger seat headrest. The dash is in perfect condition, the headliner is not sagging, and it smells exactly like a 90's Nissan. No smoke or pets. The engine runs strong all the way to its 7,500 RPM redline and does not smoke, burn oil, or make any odd noises. Most importantly, there’s absolutely NO RUST.
Overall, the car is in excellent condition for its age and mileage and is a blast to drive. Everyone who's driven it was blown away by the condition, how well it drives, and how much fun you can have. For $9,500, you can drive it home.
