Here is a rare actual ex-Police car for a nice recreation of the iconic Bluesmobile made famous by the 1980 hit film
"The Blues Brothers". This actual former Kansas City Highway patrol car still sports the rubber floors, front ticket light, original upholstery underneath the tasteful black seat covers, and original interior. Has the classic monster Dodge 440 8-cylinder "cop motor" and automatic transmission that runs and shifts well.
The car was re-painted black and white and all markings from the movie have been meticulously applied and aged to appear as nasty and worn as in the film. The front even sports the Police push-bars and has the 1974 spotlight on the windshield. I will also be adding the movie "dash trash" that you see in the film for more added nostalgia.
Has a clear Illinois open title that matches the VIN on the car and as you can see the data plate riveted to the car-frame has the special paint codes and law enforcement codes, the A38 is the Police Dodge package, the Police E86 code, and the U engine 440 code, all make it a legit cop car.
It was a labor of love for me but it is time to pass it along to the next person to finish the project. It still needs working gauges, a new/cleaned out radiator, drips oil and new back brake line. Here are highlights:
- new tires
- new gas tank
- new gas tank sending unit
- new fuel line
- new carburetor that has been tuned and adjusted
- new seat covers
- re-welded in 16 gauge steel floor pans and sealed in with seam sealer, floors have been rubberized for protection. This was a very rusty old cop car and the frame rails and floors were crunchy, so keep that in mind. Fine for cruising, but bear that in mind.
- cleaned original Police rubber floor mats from 1975
- all new fluids (brake, transmission, radiator, oil and fresh gas)
- new fuel pump and hoses
- new 1975 radio that works (needs installation)
- headlights work but turn signals don't
- need gauges inspected, no working speedo (certified Police)
- newer black and white paint and new Bluesmobile movie painted emblems and stencils
- good 1975 spotlight, needs wire attached
- front doors open but rears need to be opened from inside (linkage disconnected from age)
- good original blue 1975 interior: good door panels, good headliner
- original ticket light and dome light in ceiling (need bulbs)
- dual exhaust is hooked up but one muffler has a hole
- movie 1979 license plate artfully hand-aged to match the movie
- certified Police 140 speedometer
Okay that's it, if you want a faithful worn looking old ex-cop real Bluesmobile that needs a bit of work yet- but is mostly done, here it is! Looks great and turns heads.
Clean and open Illinois title, ready for a new owner. Will drive onto a trailer no problem but will likely overheat with any serious miles until the radiator is cleaned or replaced.
