Based on a pair of stunning prototypes designed by Marcello Gandini for Bertone and built expressly for display at the Expo 67 World s Fair held in Montreal, Quebec, the production-ready Alfa Romeo Montreal was rightly announced as a dream car come true on its March 1970 Geneva debut. A stylistic tour de force, consistently ranked among the world s most beautiful postwar sports cars ever produced, the Montreal was powered to match with high-revving, 2.6-liter fuel-injected DOHC V-8 with competition-style dry sump lubrication, derived from Alfa Romeo s Tipo 33 front-line sports racers.

Other highly advanced features of the Montreal included a ZF-sourced 5-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension, a sophisticated live rear-axle suspension, and disc brakes all around. Today, Montreal remains coveted for its great looks and renowned driving experience that must be experienced first-hand, even by today s demanding standards. Only as many as 3,925 examples of the Montreal were constructed in all, with the majority of production through 1977 sold new in Europe and far fewer imported to North America.

Accompanied by the Alfa Romeo Certifcato di Origine (Certificate of Origin) and copies of its original ACI (Automobile Club of Italy) documents confirming provenance, this outstanding 1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal was sold new in Palermo, Italy on September 9, 1973, remaining there for the next 40-plus years. In December 2016, it was purchased by Florida-based collector Leo Schigiel, who commissioned a cosmetic and mechanical restoration, performed by Carrozzeria Rizza in Rome. A February 2017-dated invoice on file with the Montreal documents the work performed there.

Appropriately finished in Red over Black vinyl and cloth upholstery, the Montreal is very well presented and displays a gentle patina consistent with proper post-restoration care and limited, adult enjoyment. Along with the Alfa Romeo Classiche documents and ACI paperwork, this collector-grade 1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal also includes importation paperwork. As offered, it stands ready for a new collector/enthusiast to appreciate its sublime driving experience and masterful styling. Call us today to see this handsome Italian driving machine today, obtain full details, and prepare to add it to your collection!

Terms:

Bidders with less than 5 feedbacks must contact us prior to bidding. If you do not contact us, we reserve the right to cancel your bid without notice. Please do not ask our reserve price, simply bid what you are comfortable with.

Your winning bid is a contract to purchase the vehicle, not a "come, look, and negotiate." This is a serious auction for serious buyers only. Please ask all relevant questions prior to bidding. All vehicles are sold as-is. By placing a bid, you are agreeing to these terms of sale.

Winning bidder must communicate with Seller by phone within 24 hours of the end of auction to make arrangements to complete transaction.  If no contact is made, we reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next highest bidder, or sell it otherwise.

As-Is:

The Last Detail has described the above-mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability, however, as with all pre-owned automobiles, the condition is subjective, and recommend that the buyer inspect and test drive the vehicle before finalizing their purchase.  The Last Detail shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with the vehicle at the buyer’s request prior to close of sale.  No allowances or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle, and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgement solely.  It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to verify the existence of options, accessories and the vehicle condition before time of sale. Any and all differences must be addressed prior to the time of sale. The Last Detail assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle.  Despite our best efforts to verify a vehicle’s mechanical condition, we are not able to warranty a manufacturer’s workmanship or a previous owner’s diligence in care of said vehicle.  There are no mechanical guarantees, expressed or implied. We will not be responsible for buyer’s remorse or issues to said vehicle once it has left our premises. We are being realistic; most of the cars we sell are vintage and by their very nature will need TLC and some degree of attention sooner or later.  Therefore, all vehicles are sold “AS IS”.  However, extended warranty options are available on most vehicles.  Please inquire if you are interested.

Mileage:

Vintage cars in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. The Last Detail makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown and accepts no responsibility for any discrepancy with independent reports such as CarFax, Autocheck, etc. Unless the vehicle is advertised as an original mileage car, do not assume that the mileage/odometer reading is the actual mileage. It is simply what the odometer is reading at the time pictures are taken. MILEAGE IS NOT ACTUAL UNLESS STATED SO IN THE DESCRIPTION! Vehicles are test driven and mileage may vary at time of sale.
