In 1978, Porsche introduced the new version of the 911, called the '911SC'. Porsche reintroduced the SC designation for the first time since the 356SC (as distinguished from the race engined 356 Carrera). There was no Carrera version of the 911SC. It featured a 3.0-liter engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed 915 transmission. Originally power output was 180 hp, later 188 hp and then in 1981 it was increased to 204 hp. In 1981 a Cabriolet concept car was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Not only was the car a true convertible, but it also featured four-wheel drive, although this was dropped in the production version. It was during this time, that Porsche AG decided the long-term fate of the 911. In 1979 Porsche had made plans to replace the 911 with their new 928. Sales of the 911 remained so strong however, that Porsche revised its strategy and decided to inject new life into the 911 editions. 911 SC sales totaled 58,914 cars. Purchased new from Peter Gregg Porsche Audi in Smyrna Georgia at a cost of $31,000, this highly optioned ’80 Porsche 911SC comes finished in its original color of Black Metallic. This was a $595 option and is not a true black but more of a dark gunmetal gray metallic. A very unique and rarely seen color. Coupled with the tan leather interior, the color combination is beautiful and looks great. We have receipts and records for over $10,000 worth of work done to the car that includes all new calipers, rotors, A/C service and a complete, engine out service. In the last month, a new air-box with pop-off valve was installed as well as new throttle bushings, misc. gaskets, breather hoses etc., the warm-up regulator was adjusted and the timing was adjusted. The paint on the car is in great condition with nearly no imperfections. The paint is the special order Weissach color for 1980 of Metallic Black. It’s not a true black, but a dark, almost gunmetal gray in most light. This is a very rarely seen color and was a $595 option in 1980. The car was professionally repainted earlier this year with the windows and trim removed. At the same time, all of the rubber and window seals were replaced. Both front and rear bumpers are in great condition with no damage to be found. This is a sunroof car that works with no problems. Inside, the tan interior looks great and the leather seats show virtually no wear. The tan with black exterior is a beautiful and highly desired color combination. The carpets are all new and show no wear or staining. The dash and headliner are both finished in chocolate and look great. There are two cracks to the dash as you can see in the photos. The original radio has been replaced with a new Sony AM/FM/CD player and speakers that work with no problems. All gauges work with no problems with the exception of the clock. The flat 6 power plant runs great and we have thousands of dollars in receipts. Among the records is documentation showing the engine having all of its Head Studs replaced by the second owner at 32k miles along with the Carrera Tensioners update and an engine overhaul. The Engine was put back together with all new breather hoses, oil return tubes and a new oil pressure switch. Connected to the 4 speed manual transmission, the car runs great. We’ve recently put over 100 miles on the car with on problems. During the engine service, the brakes were all also rebuilt at this time as well as a new engine sound pad install, fan motor replacement, new motor support, warm up regulator replaced, steering shaft bushing replaced, dash indicator, turn signal switch replaced, and rear seat belts added. The original Fuch wheels look great and are wrapped with brand new Yokohama S Drive ZR rated tires. The car comes with the original (complete) tool kit, jack and emergency spare. The current mileage shows 80,703 and is said to be original for the car. VIN number is 91A0141223 and the car is being sold on a clean title.
