VEHICLE INFO

This car has a ton of notoriety here in the Sarasota area as it has recently been featured as a story in the local newspaper with pictures and all and also on one of the most recent classic car reality shows. It has a very special history that is fully documented. The car was owned through the 70's by a young man who was able to somehow keep the car in his possession over the years. He and his best friend spent countless hours of mischief in the car. The car was and passengers were well known by the local police and other hot rodders in the area. Fast forward to 2010, all those years had passed and the owner of the car had become a high ranking firefighter/EMT officer. He had dismantled the car decades ago with the intention of restoring the car to it's former glory. Unfortunately, he had a surprise heart attack at the age of only 46. We was survived by all of his immediate family and the car was forgotten for a while while more important issues were attended to. Eventually, the father of the owner of the car called his son's life-long friend and asked him to buy the car. By this time, the friend had become an attorney, judge and then into the private sector where he is still employed. The owners father knew that his son would have wanted his old friend to be the one to take care of this car. Luckily for the car, the friend insisted in finishing the car and hired a team of professional classic car restorers to restore the car exactly as his friend would have wanted it. He even insisted on using some of the bolt-on, aftermarket parts he had purchased to install on the car. If his friend wanted to install the brand new Edlebrock valve covers that came with the car, then that's what would be fitted onto the car during restoration. There was no expense spared in building the car and we have all receipts. The car was finished in late 2011 and has been driven only a few hundred miles since.

The Camaro is a true original SS396 3 spd manual. The engine had a problem very early in life and was removed by a Chevy dealer who installed a period correct and matching horsepower CE (counter exchange) engine. The transmission was changed to a 4 speed manual dated 1969 because of owners preference. It is a real red/red car and is currently very close to perfect. Show car scores should range in the mid 90's. The car is amazing and the only reason for the less than 100 ranking would be a little dust and water spotting on the bottom of the glossy bottom section because of having to drive through some standing water left by sprinklers. The runs and drives perfectly with all new or refurbished parts. everything in working order. Like driving a brand new 1968 Camaro back in late 1967!
