This 2006 Hummer is a superbly presented example of this final year for H1 production. It is a highly-desirable H1 Alpha example, and it has been local in Washington State since being sold new. The body is finished in Pewter Metallic over a black & tan colored interior. This H1 has known just two previous owners since being sold new in 2006 for a stout $140,796.
Based on the military-spec M998 Humvee, the Hummer H1 is one of the most capable civilian off-road vehicles ever produced. As it was originally designed for military use, the H1 was built with the most rugged applications in mind - it boasts an incredible 16" of ground clearance, 72-degree approach angle, 32-degree departure angle and the ability to scale a 60% grade! In its stock form, it is also capable of wading through 30" of water. The H1's body is comprised of hardened aircraft-grade aluminum and it rides on a heavy-duty steel box frame with five cross members and a 4-wheel independent double A-frame suspension. H1 Alpha wagon models can pull up to a 9,000lb tow load.
This example seen here is a wagon-style H1 Alpha, which was only available for the 2006 model year. H1 Alpha models remain more desirable than previous H1 models thanks to a number of factory upgrades that addressed previous consumer complaints. To address these issues, Hummer outfitted H1 Alpha with GM's 6.6L turbocharged Duramax diesel engine that develops 300hp and a fantastic 520lb-ft of torque. To further increase the Alpha's capabilities, the Duramax engine was also fitted with GM's heavy-duty 5-speed Allison transmission, full-time 4WD with two-speed transfer case.
Even with its hairy off-road capability, this H1 Alpha isn't without comfort amenities. The interior features leather upholstery, heaters for the front seats, air-conditioning, a Monsoon audio system and 6-disc CD changer. To further enhance on-road usability, this H1's previous owner had the interior stripped and re-insulated with three layers of Dynamat sound insulation. Other upgrades include the snorkel intake, roof rack with rear ladder and IPF driving lamps mounted on the front brush guards. Other notable features include a heavy-duty front winch, rear tow hook, rear trailer hitch and Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS).
Owner's books, one key with remote keyfob, service records and a CarFax history report are included.
