1923 Ford T-Bucket

  • Title is CLEAN AND CLEAR in my name for a 1923 Ford Model T.


First, I would like to point out that this isn't your typical t-bucket. This car has been custom built from the ground up with endless hours of fabrication spent to make it one of the most unique and aggressive Model T's out there. Check out the photos below and I will go into further detail. BE SURE TO WATCH THE 10 MINUTE VIDEO ABOVE. You can see for yourself how great this car runs and drives.   • FRAME

The Frame is 100% hand built one of a kind. The front rails are 6" tapered down to 3" with staggered "speed holes" that are lined with schedule 40 pipe. The back rails are hand cut as well and have uniform "speed holes" also lined with schedule 40 pipe. The holes do not lighten it since they're lined with pipe obviously, they are mainly just for looks, but they also serve to strengthen the frame.

  • Suspension and Steering-

The Steering box is a 1972 BMW box. This allowed me to do cowl steering which hides the box up under the dash for a more aggressive old school look. This is also a great box to use because of it's steering ratio. It's a quick steer box so it's responsive, but it's not so quick that it makes it radical and unsafe to drive. The front suspension is your typical brand new reproduction Model A wishbones drilled with speedholes and fitted with mounts to mount the spring behind the axle, giving it a lower stance. The front axle is a Model A straight axle that has been equipped with new kingpins, spindles, and a disc brake kit all from Speedway Motors. Also on the front you will notice that I hand made a set of old school friction shocks with holes cutout as well. They are cut from thick plate steel and use rubber bushings that help absorb some of the bumps from the road and maintain stability of the front end.

As you can see in the photos, the rear suspension also uses a single leaf spring pack. For ladder bars I again chose to design and create my own so that they matched the rest of the car. They are made out of 1" schedule 40 pipe and gusseted with thick 1/4" plate steel that was then drilled with holes to go with everything else. The ends are adjustable heims from QS Components.

  • DRIVETRAIN

The engine is a Small Block Chevy 307 c.i. That has had the cam upgraded to a mild street cam. The intake is a polished aluminum air gap dual plane intake from Assault Racing. The carb is a Carter AFB Comp Series that has been freshly rebuilt. The distributor is a brand new small HEI with an external high output coil. The valve covers and oil pan are polished finned aluminum. It has also been equipped with chrome pulleys and thermostat housing as well as a Holley fuel pump. The starter, 1-wire alternator, and water pump are also all new. The radiator is an aluminum wide core radiator equipped with a chrome electric fan. It's never gotten hot on me. The Transmission is a fresh professionally rebuilt 350 turbo with a shift kit in it. The convertor is a 2300 stall to help with drive-ability. The Rear-End is a GM 10-bolt posi-track out of a second generation camaro. It is 3.90 geared so this car takes off like a rocket. With that gear ratio and the tall back tires you've got a good combination for a streetable hot rod.

  • Tires and Wheels-

The wheels are Cragar Deluxe Series wheels all around with a black powdercoated finish and chrome bullet center caps. The rear tires are 10" wide cheater slicks which are DOT approved, they come from Towel City Racing Tires. The front tires are Towel Citys classic frontrunners. All the tires are re-capped over radial casings.

  • INTERIOR, BRAKES, & ELECTRICAL

As you can see, the interior is just your basic necessities. You've got two seats with 3.5" of padding so you're comfortable on your ride, covered in red vinyl pleats and black vinyl. Some bare metal accents with a B&M Shifter and brand new black face gauges that resemble the old school Stewart Warner gauges that were so popular in the 60's. Yes, the transmission is exposed, but it is covered with two layers of steel tunnel from the tail-shaft back. So you won't ever see or come in contact with any moving parts. The Gas pedal is a "go-fast" race pedal from Speedway Motors. The Brake pedal is modified from a 47 chevy truck pedal which leads to the master cylinder. The master cylinder is brand new for a 1980 camaro with manual brakes. It has external residual valves in the lines to prevent bleed back into the cylinder. The battery and fuse panel are also located under the seats. It has a brand new XS Power AGM Gel Racing battery that powers this car great and saves on room. The wiring harness is also all new wire and switches, done proper with a fuse block. The headlights are chrome dietz style aftermarket lights. The tail lights are brand new reproduction chrome bullet lights for a '47 Chevy. This car is equipped with turn signals in the rear. As you can see in the photo there is a chrome turn signal switch mounted to the Speedway Motors steering column. The column is made with a quick disconnect hub, so you can just pull the safety pin and take the steering wheel off. 

  • The BODY-

The body I started with was an old hand laid fiberglass shell that was probably made in the 70's if I had to guess. I wanted to strengthen it up so I made an entire steel skeleton and we then molded it into the body. From the skeleton I also mad a sub-floor using square tubing and covered it with 1/8" plate and 16 gauge steel. So the inside of the body is all steel and the upper lip of the body has also been reinforced so it won't break and crack when climbing in and out. The Grill Shell is a heavyweight fiberglass '32 shell that has been cut down and shortened to match the height and proportions of the channeled body. The windshield posts are another hand made item, they hold tinted safety glass for the windshield.

I've had a couple people ask about how much room is in the car and how comfortable it is to drive. The best way for me to explain is this, I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam and wear size 13 steel toe boots everyday even when I'm driving it. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere. I find it very comfortable to drive. I sit in a comfortable position and the car handles great.
