An icon in American automotive design known throughout the world! Considered the junior Cadillac to consumers, it possessed the classic 1950’s rear fins, plenty of trim to polish from front to back, and a very handsome look overall! Chevrolet called it “Sweet, Smooth, and Sassy!” in their advertising copy. Words that continue to ring true today, and a perfect embodiment of young mid-Fifties America!

We are delighted to offer this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible finished in factory correct Matador Red (802) over code correct Red & Silver interior (683) and brand new White convertible top! This nicely optioned example comes with all the desired equipment including a 283ci-4V V8 Power Pack engine, Powerglide automatic transmission, and original rear end fitted with 3.36 gearing! Options include power convertible top, 14” wheels with full spinner wheel covers, Goodyear Custom Super Cushion 4-ply wide whitewall radial tires measuring 7.50x14, power brakes, tinted windshield, rear fender skirts, rocker trim, rear trunk lid trim, door handle paint protectors, dual exhaust with resonators, electric wipers, gas pedal heal pad extension, working original AM radio with dual rear fender-mounted antennas, rubber floor mats, and so much more!

The full body-off restoration of this example was completed over a 3 year period starting in 1985 by the Belmond, IA owner. The exterior paint was beautifully refinished by Richard Pell of Mason City, IA and continues to look quite sharp with only a few areas showing indications of being driven & enjoyed! Under the hood, you will see it nicely detailed with correct date-coded components including the Carter carburetor, generator charging system, Delco tar top battery cover, air cleaner assembly, ram horn exhaust manifolds, decal stickers, and more! It went on to be shown in the 1989 National Tri-Five Classic Car Show for a strong 2nd place finish among many other show honors since!

This Bel Air convertible runs down the road wonderfully! It starts effortlessly, no smoke from the engine, and shifts smooth through the gears! The body, chassis, and overall structure remain in outstanding condition and retain their original VIN plate and firewall cowl tag! The former owner of this Bel Air convertible was proud to call it his own for the past 15 years! It was always garaged and well looked after while being enjoyed each year alongside many other collector cars. Today the odometer shows only 8,970 miles which are miles traveled since completion of the restoration. It will be sold mileage exempt on the title for this reason. Included in the trunk will be a spare tire, original jack with base, tire iron, and rubber floor mat. Some photos of the restoration were provided with a personal letter from the restorer’s son that will be included as well. If you have been looking for a car that fulfills the experience of driving a classic 1950’s convertible, the iconic Chevrolet Bel Air should head straight to the top of your list! This example provides an outstanding opportunity for the astute collector and driver enthusiast! Please feel free to call with additional questions. Thanks for looking!
