1985 Cadillac DeVille DeElegance
I bought this car at the insistence of the son of a man who had passed away and he didn’t want the car driven on a daily basis. He sold it to me at a price so low I couldn’t say no and I have done work to the car to make it a desirable out of one of the least desirable Cadillacs. Since I bought the car I have loosened all the bolts and aligned the sheet metal, replaced the rear lenses, recovered the right door trim panel, replaced a seat button, installed floor mats, repaired the A/C ,did the HT 4100 intake gasket upgrade to keep the engine from destroying itself, replaced repaired the antenna, repaired the leveling system, replaced various door weather strips, aligned the front end, repainted the caddy crest on the wheel covers, flushed all flushed al fluids and replaced with synthetic fluid, replaced the A/C compressor, replaced the 02 sensor, and put new valve cover gaskets on it.
What’s wrong with the car: The antenna has gone wonky again, the trunk pull down needs replaced, a piece of trim on the right door panel is cracked (pictured), the right side passenger’s seat front, the leather is dry but not cracked – presentable but no longer super supple.
What’s cool about this car: I drove this car as a highway car between Denver and Pueblo Colorado for about 4 months. It gets a legitimate 22 mpg; it has the super rare gas cap security system which locks the license plate over the gas cap so nobody can steal your gas, and virtually every available factory option other than a sunroof.
Who am I? My name is Dave. I have been restoring cars for 35 years. My first collector car was when I was 15 years old. I've had three major collections and now it's time to sell my last one. My personal taste run to the eclectic.
I have picked out or restored these vehicles to be some of the finest in the world of these types.
I was a Dodge dealer for 27 years, selling 1600 to 2000 cars a year - that was my business.
These cars are my passion.
