![]() Vehicle infoWe all know 'mid-year' Corvettes are some of the most popular and in demand collector cars on the planet. And when a well-done pro-touring build adds modern ergonomics and world class performance, 'in demand' becomes 'irresistible'. Just two months ago we sold this LS3-powered stunner for $170K. And in May of last year, we sold this LS7-powered trophy winner for $180K. That duo is merely the latest in a string of custom C2s which have left our RK Motors Charlotte showroom almost as fast as they arrived. And if you're one of the many folks who waited just a little too long to pull the trigger, here's a rare chance at redemption. Wrapping a supercharged LS7 in a custom chassis and swaths of hand-stitched leather, this incredible black coupe is an 815 horsepower land rocket that gives new meaning to the phrase 'out of this world'. And best of all, you can have all that comfort and performance without sacrificing any old school style! An exceptionally solid survivor, this stunning Sting Ray was completely disassembled, carefully modified and professionally restored by an enthusiast who wanted to capitalize on timeless beauty and decades of improving technology. As you can tell from our high resolution photos, the car is razor-straight, no doubt requiring minimal work to present better-than-new aesthetics. Once its body was stripped and sufficiently prepped, layers of PPG Super Jet Black base were sealed in clear, carefully wet-sanded and buffed to a brilliant shine. And today, this Corvette rolls as one spectacular classic with no filler, no questionable seams, no bulges, and nothing else that would demerit its excellent restoration. The second generation of America's favorite sports car debuted a much more assertive demeanor thanks to GM's renewed dedication to motorsports. And that newfound aggression is especially prevalent in this coupe's edgy detailing. The car opens with a shaved clip, which tucks a painted and stainless-trimmed grille behind thin 'razor blade' bumpers and bright, bullet-style parking lamps. Above that grille, an exaggerated Stinger Hood, which looks downright evil, leads the eye to bright stainless trim and lightly tinted glass. At the sides of that hood, a shaved profile hangs '67-exclusive heat extractors in front of chrome door handles, a stylish mirror, and chambered and shielded side pipes. And behind those pipes, a shaved decklid centers a cross-flag-branded fuel cap above traditional taillights and two more 'razor blade' bumpers. Gaze upon this Chevy's Satin Black engine bay and you'll find 427 cubic inches of turbocharged fury! An aftermarket take on GM's award-winning LS7, this serene small block produces roughly 815 horsepower right off the showroom floor. At the top of the virtually new mill, a reusable filter element pipes wind through a painted air tube to a beefy Magnuson supercharger and GM electronic fuel injection. That perfect air/fuel mixture falls into a factory-style intake that's bolted between free-flowing heads, forged internals and Mast Motorsports plug wires. Below those wires, ceramic coated headers funnel spent gases into large-diameter tail pipes. And in front of those headers, a beefy Griffin radiator, which is equipped with two Spal puller fans, circulates water past an attractive, polished serpentine system. While this engine's main purpose is to go straight at a very high rate of speed, it's still very impressive to look at. And accessories like stainless hardware, braided hoses and American Autowire wiring ensure it'll wow showgoers and gearheads alike. Park this Vette on a lift and you'll find a custom Street Shop chassis that's been bolted to clean floor tubs and bathed in glossy black pigment. Behind the stout small block, a reliable Tremec T56 6-speed, which was sourced directly from a Dodge Viper, twists torque to a rugged, aftermarket third member. That first class drivetrain rolls on a fourth generation Corvette independent suspension that's been fitted with a 1-inch sway bar, fresh urethane bushings and smooth coil-over-shocks. Turns come courtesy of modern power steering. Confident stops are provided by red, power-assisted calipers, which squeeze big, vented rotors. Exhaust rolls from the previously mentioned headers to the aforementioned side pipes. Power flows through custom Billet Specialties wheels, which spin 225/50R18 Falken Ziex ZE-912s in front of 245/60R18 Falken Ziex ZE-912s. And everything from this Chevy's brake lines to its fuel filter is professionally finished, superbly detailed and ready for action. Pop the car's lightweight doors and you'll find a hand-stitched leather interior that's complete, tasteful and classic. Front and center, a pair of modified Corvette Z06 buckets, which were fully rebuilt at the time of restoration, feel both comfortable and supportive. In front of those seats, a leather-wrapped dual-cowl dash hangs retrofitted AC vents below a Custom Autosound head unit and electronic Auto Meter gauges. At the sides of that dash, two-tone door panels center stylish billet hardware between sculpted armrests and tasteful stainless trim. At the bottom of those panels, clean California Carpet features stain-free shading thanks to color-keyed floor mats. At the center of that carpet, a full-length console frames a beefy, leather-wrapped shifter. In front of the driver, a custom Billet Specialties steering wheel, which matches the car's rolling stock, spins a half-wrapped and color-keyed rim. And behind the passengers, a custom upholstered storage compartment, which features Sting Ray-mimicking speaker grilles, displays virtually no signs of use. Even without admiring its serious mechanical ability, anyone with the slightest automotive intuition can easily see this Vette is one exceptional performer. There are very few C2s, and even fewer classics, that are as capable as this coupe. And if you're a discerning enthusiast who dreams of owning the ultimate sports car, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity!
