1976 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
1976 was the Last year for the really big Cadillac. Some people say the last year for the true Cadillac. Subsequent years shared more and more with other GM brands. The 1976 was also (except for Eldorado) the last year for the 500 cubic inch engine and the Eldorado convertible. These Cadillacs were built with nothing but pure luxury in mind, the projection of a powerful image when driving or standing still, and no real consideration of fuel mileage, just pure luxury.
About the Car: I purchased this vehicle with about 10k miles less on it. So I have driven it extensively (by my standards). When I bought it, someone had cleaned the top with something evil and the top was cracking. I replaced the top, aligned all of the sheet metal, converted it to R134, tuned the engine, and enjoyed the car. This Cadillac drives, blows cold A/C, cruises on the cruise control, even the 8 track works. It’s an absolute joy and has always been trouble free.
What’s wrong with the car: The rear fillers are original and have yet to even hint at breaking down, the chrome on the left rear filler has shrunken and needs to be replaced (pictured). The rub strips have minor wear (pictured) and the back seat apparently was touched by the same evil stuff that the vinyl roof had on it and has two small cracks in it (pictured) it is odd because the seat itself is supple and shows virtually no wear other than the two small cracks.
Who am I? My name is Dave. I have been restoring cars for 35 years. My first collector car was when I was 15 years old. I've had three major collections and now it's time to sell my last one. My personal taste run to the eclectic.
I have picked out or restored these vehicles to be some of the finest in the world of these types.
I was a Dodge dealer for 27 years, selling 1600 to 2000 cars a year - that was my business.
These cars are my passion.
