This unrestored original 1946 buick roadmaster with 59436 actual miles is a true survivor and very rare to find in this condition that you can drive anywhere right now. The car was sold new from a colorado dealer (original bill of sale from Antrim Motors Buick from bolder colorado go with the sale of the car, see picture) This car has been kept in a heated garage and as pictures show is rust free. You can see from the condition of the steering wheel and the shine on the dash board that the car has never been exposed from the heat of the sun. This also evident in the condition of the rubber seals and trim which are still plyable and soft and seem like new.
While I do not know the complete history of the car, it is obvious that it has been well taken care of through out its life. The seats, door panels, carpet, and headliner are in great condition. There is no rust in the bottom of the doors, rocker panels, or in the trunk I can see. The car starts up on the first try and drives smoothly and quiet. The engine is strong, the wiring harness is in great condition. Under the dash, everything is just like when the car left the factory. I drove this car on a 200 mile road rally and in my opinion, it drove just like it did when it came from the factory. On the hotest day, 90 plus degrees, the temp guage stayed at 165/170 degrees and the oil pressure at 50 lbs. Being that this is original paint there are a few spots where it has rubbed through to the primer , but I have no intentions of painting it as it appears to be the original factory lacquer. There was one small dent in the turnk that I had fixed and a small touch up on the front left fender, and that is the only place at all I can see on the car that has had any paint.
The car has had some important mechanical work done recently, including 4 new dunlap L78-15 wide white wall bias ply tires, Rebuilt starter and generator, fuel pump and water pump, new upper and lower radiator hoses and all new heater hoses. The fan belt, a over hauled vaccum wiper motor, new battery, brakes, complete tune up with plug wires, valves adjusted, new gas tank sending unit. I also replaced the exaust manifold (these are known to have cracks near the carb from heat) with a new one that cost me over 500 just for the part. the caborator was rebuilt.
This is a well equipped Buick roadmaster 70 series (top of the line) with a radio, heater, backup lights, windshiled washer, fulton sun visor, guide traffic light viewer. spotlight with built in rear view mirror, and trippe senior driving lights. The radio works but the volume is low. The clocks works sometimes. All lights turn signals brake lamps and guages are working. Those who are familar with the "bomb sight "hood ordimate know that this car has the rare version without the cross braces. As I said, the car starts right up and idles beautiful. There is a crack in the driver side windshied( flat glass ,easily fixed) but all of the other glass is clear. There is a rear view mirror on the back of the spotlight with a crack in it (see pic) the spot light works but needs a new sealed beam. The spark plug cover is included in the sale (see pic in trunk)
This is a survivor in exceptional mechanical and cosmetic original condition. Every show we have entered this car in, it has always won trophies and seems to draw the largest crowds. It is also a 68 year old car and while I described it to the best of my ability, and there are no undisclosed defects to the best of my knowledge, I encourage you to have ebay do a inspection for you, or come and see the car before placing a bid. I am completely confident in driving this car anywhere. I am selling it out of my personal collection and it is truly one of the most original , unmolested and mechanically sound cars I have owned. The car comes with a clean and clear iowa title in my name ready to go and the air swamp cooler and the dash magnets do not go with the car. The original 1946 soy board liscense plates go with the car.
