An icon of the American Muscle Car Era, the GTO was introduced by Pontiac for the Le Mans in 1964. After a strike-shortened model year in '64, the 1965 GTO debuted with revised styling and a number of instantly recognizable design cues, notably stacked head lamps, a recessed grille and a central hood scoop. The GTO package offered great performance bang for the buck, originally costing only $295 and adding a 350hp 389ci V8 and an upgraded suspension, as well as other equipment including a chrome air cleaner and red line tires.

According to the original dealer shipping record, the 1965 GTO seen here rolled off the assembly line at the Pontiac, MI plant in July of 1965 and was delivered new to McCoy Auto Company in Vancouver, Washington. It was delivered in sinister Starlight Black over a red interior, packing all the high-performance GTO accoutrements: 389 V8, black painted steel wheels, dog dish hub caps and an automatic transmission -- perfect for drag racing.

This GTO has been restored from the frame up and is presented with its original, numbers-matching 389ci 350hp V8. It has been repainted once in correct Starlight Black, the body is believed to have all original sheet metal with excellent panel fit and gaps, and all glass is believed original. The numbers-matching V8 has been mildly upgraded with period-correct Tri-Power with triple Rochester carburetors, as well as a heavy-duty Harrison radiator. Additionally, the original transmission has been supplanted by TH350 automatic transmission from a '67 GTO.

Inside the cabin, this GTO showcases an all-original interior with rare, factory-equipped air conditioning. Further features include bucket front seats, center console, "His & Hers" gear selector, rally gauges with tach and push-button radio. The car rolls on its original black-painted steel wheels with dog dish hub caps, and correct Coker classic red line tires.

Included with this GTO is a copy of the original dealer shipping record, as well as a full set of keys and restoration details.
