Despite being nearly 35 years young, the exterior of this sedan is in excellent shape. The body is straight and the panel gap and fitment is factory. The exterior paint is original and is finished in the factory Burgundy color. A recent detail and polish has brought out the original shine and luster. The reflection in the paint looks 100 feet deep!

The roof is wrapped in a matching, full roof vinyl top. The top is in excellent shape and doesn’t have any of the rips, tears, or bubbles that you typically find on a vehicle of this age. The body side moldings and chrome bumpers are in excellent condition. Overall the body is in great shape considering the age. There are a few minor chips and imperfections, but if you look closely at the photos you will see they have been carefully touched up with factory matching paint. The driver’s front corner has a minor ripple that can be seen in the pictures.

The Newport rides on the factory steel wheels with hub cabs. The wheels are wrapped in four matching tires that have plenty of thread left. The hub caps themselves have retained their original luster and aren’t dented or scraped from being rubbed up against a curb.

Under the hood you will find the original 318 cubic inch V8 engine. The 318 was the midrange engine choice for this year of the Newport and provided an excellent balance of power and efficiency. The engine fires right up and settles into a smooth idle. The engine compartment is very clean and supports the meticulous care and service this Newport received. The University Professor who owned this vehicle since new took diligent care of this vehicle. In the photos you will see pictures of the notebook he kept records of the service and use of the Newport.

The Newport has a small trailer hitch mounted under the back bumper. The college Professor that bought the Newport new had a small pop up trailer that he would occasionally pull while traveling around.

All of the exterior glass is the original Chrysler glass and is crystal clear and scratch free without any delamination or imperfections. Look closely at the photos and you'll notice the original Mopar stamping on the glass. The stainless trim around the windshield is still bright and shiny.

Open the door and you will not believe the impeccable condition of the original interior. The factory upholstery is as nice as the day that it was built. The matching red carpet is in excellent condition without being worn down. The dashboard is crack free and all of the instruments in the gauge cluster are in working order.

The Newport has manual crank windows that roll up and down with ease. There are no rips or tears in the seats. The foam padding is firm and not worn down.

Open the trunk and you will find the same care has been extended to the trunk. The trunk carpet is in excellent condition and shows no signs of any water damage. The factory spare tire and jack are present and appear to have never been used.

This is a smoke free sedan. The cigarette lighter and ashtray have never been used. The door panels have no cracks and the armrests are wear free.
