Original Paint, 23k Original Miles, A Hidden Gem Just Uncovered for the First Time in Decades!

This is an extremely original 1955 Ford Thunderbird for Sale. The two seater Ford Thunderbird convertible was manufactured between 1955-1957. All versions were sold with a hard top. 1956-1957 model year had "porthole" side windows in the hard top, and while those were not offered on the 1955 model year, it is common for portholes to have been be retrofitted to 1955 model cars once owners saw them on newer cars.

This car is part of an estate consisting of a 1959 Jaguar XK150, a 1963 Jaguar Mark 2 and this 1955 Ford Thunderbird for sale. All of the cars in the estate are in extremely remarkable, original condition. The owner was very meticulous and he took amazing care of his cars.  It's exciting to find such nearly untouched example of the first year Thunderbird.

The VIN of this 1955 Thunderbird is P5FH218049. The mileage reads 23,751. There is a sticker under the hood for an oil change from 11/1968 showing the odometer at that time was 23,602. There are receipts with the car that document the mileage to prove its originality.

This is a highly optioned 1955 Ford Thunderbird for sale. This car has power windows, power seats, a tachometer, and a telescoping steering wheel.

None of the cars in the estate have driven since about 1977 when the husband of the couple passed away. The wife left the cars covered in a heated garage and actually rented another garage for her own car! For decades these cars sat under fitted car covers and untouched  until the spring of 2014. This Thunderbird would need mechanical attention to be road worthy again, but cosmetically the car is very nice. And all cars look to have been in good running and driving condition prior to being parked. Receipts on this Thunderbird confirm it was well taken care of until it was put away.

This "T-bird" looks to be still in original paint. The paint is in remarkably excellent condition with just a  small blemishes shown in the Close-Up Photo Gallery below this written description. It is nearly unheard of to see a car from the '50s in original paint, and it is even more rare to see original paint  still in such amazing condition. The chrome is still very nice throughout. The interior is in amazing, original condition. The engine is complete down to the air cleaner. Other than the radiator hose (for which the receipt is still with the car) and a few other small items here and there, the entire car is mostly original and untouched.

Personalized plates on vehicles (if any) belong to the owner of record and cannot be included with the vehicle.

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of the auction close (acceptable via Paypal). The remaining balance is due within 72 hours of the close of auction, unless other arrangements were made. Accepted payment methods are bank wire transfers, cashier's checks, cash in person and money orders. If you wish to obtain financing, please do so ahead of time. We reserve the right to end the auction early. We also reserve the right to verify any or all bids to ensure exceptional auction integrity. Please do not ask the reserve amount, as we will not disclose this information.

Transportation expenses are the sole responsibility of the buyer. We cannot be held liable for any problems or damages arising from or due to transportation handling. The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges and fees from point of sale to the final destination. In addition, it is the buyers responsibility to arrange & coordinate shipping. We are happy to provide a list of transporters.
