The La Grange Illinois (Cook County) Police Department is offering the following vehicle for sale: 1993 Cadillac Seville Sedan V8, 4.9L, Brown Chameleon Custom Paint with a mileage of 175,094 miles This is a seized/forfeited vehicle and MUST be sold according to Illinois law; it MUST be sold in an auction-type setting such as eBay. There is no Buy-It-Now option. We will NOT accept any trades for this vehicle. The vehicle is being sold AS IS and with no warranty. All sales are FINAL, NO returns will be accepted, and NO price adjustments will be given. The vehicle will be sold to the highest bidder after the initial starting price has been satisfied. There is no reserve on this item. The vehicle (again) has a mileage of 175,094 miles and has a brown custom "Chameleon" paint. The vehicle has only been driven by us approximately 2-3 miles but appears to drive/run well and sounds good. The vehicle has been in inside storage since 2005, but periodically run. All lights, lamps, signals, wipers, and horn are in working order. The vehicle has other numerous electronic controls on the dashboard, however, we did not try all of them and do not know if they are all in working order. The vehicle shows normal wear-n-tear about the vehicle such as normal scratches, scuffs, minor scrapes, etc. The vehicle has tires in good shape (quite a bit of tread left). The vehicle has A/C (unknown if cold, but fan working) with front and rear seat controls. The vehicle has power locks, power windows, power mirrors, power lumbar controls for both front seats (we did not try all of these controls). The vehicle has cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, Pioneer AM/FM stereo with CD player, and a DVD player in the front passenger-seat (P/S) area under dashboard (we did not try any of these items). Housed in the trunk, the vehicle has a Rockford Fosgate 400 watt speaker, a 600 watt Kenwood amplifier, and a Lanzar 6-disc CD changer (again, we did not try any of these items). Lastly, the vehicle has leather seating in fair to good condition. Notable minor damage/scratches/dents/imperfections/items that don't work or need replacement: During the storage period, the vehicle's parking brake "froze up" and was disengaged by our village mechanic. There were two TV screens in the headrests for the back seat that have been removed (one is lying in the back seat and the other is missing). There was a larger TV screen mounted on the roof that was removed (the bracket was left behind). The P/S airbag cover is not down tight. The arm rest/center console is damaged. There are a few wires hanging from the inside roof and around the car, presumably from extra accessories in the vehicle. The vehicle has a "rag top" with some cracking in several places-see photographs. It will eventually need a new top (unknown if leaking due to being in inside storage). There is a small rust spot on the D/S rear under the rear door. There is a small crack in the windshield (P/S). There is minor crash damage to the D/S front bumper. The front license plate cover is cracked. There are scratches on the P/S front bumper, molding and 1/4. The P/S rear wheel well trim is loose. The P/S rear 1/4 and bumper has minor crash damage. The rear bumper has several scratches, scuffs, etc. The rear P/S plastic taillight housing has a small crack. The trunk does not close all the way, up just a fraction and not flush. The vehicle will need a new battery, as we had to jump start the vehicle (vehicle started right up upon jump start). Due to the vehicle not being consistently run, we would also recommend a tune up for the vehicle. Overall, the vehicle seems to be in pretty good shape for it's age and mileage!! DISCLAIMER: The vehicle (again) is a seized/forfeited vehicle and MUST be sold according to Illinois law; it MUST be sold in an auction-type setting such as eBay. There is no Buy-It-Now option. We will not accept any trades for this vehicle. The vehicle is being sold AS IS and with NO warranty, neither express nor implied. All sales are FINAL, NO returns will be accepted, and NO price adjustments will be given. BUYER BEWARE: Due to this vehicle being a seized/forfeited vehicle and having not driven it a great deal, we do not know a great deal about it's condition, it's history, prior damage, or prior maintenance record. potential bidders are encouraged to view the vehicle in person prior to the bidding process, as there may be defects, damage, or undetected problems we are unaware of. Potential bidders may have an independent inspection completed on the vehicle at their own expense prior to the bidding process. The winning bidder is responsible for the pick up of the vehicle or making arrangements with a private shipping service at their own expense; we will NOT deliver the vehicle. We have described the vehicle as completely and accurately as possible, however, we will not be responsible for undetected problems, unknown damage, incorrect specs, etc. Should you have any questions or would like to view the vehicle in person, please contact me through eBay email, ask a question through the auction site, or telephone Sgt. Cimbalista at 708-579-2334 and follow the prompt. I am currently working 7:00am-3:00pm (CST). If I am unavailable at the time of your call, please leave me a voice mail and I will return your call as soon as I become available. The winning bidder may pay in full upon pick up of the vehicle with either cash or a certified bank check only, at which time a bill of sale and clear title will be provided. We gladly accept PayPal payments as well. pick up of the vehicle should be completed within seven days OR please contact me to make arrangements for more time if additional time is needed. GOOD LUCK!! Additional: The vehicle has an alarm system in which our village mechanic disconnected the audible alarm. The purchaser of this vehicle should get the alarm repaired because it is still partially active. The interior dash lights flash as well as the taillights (again, we believe this is due to the alarm).

GM extending warranties on Cadillac CTS-V and Chevy Camaro ZL1 for supercharger issue
Wed, 04 Jun 2014Okay General Motors, we've sat by and watched you recall the compact cars, crossovers and pickup trucks, and aside from reporting on it, we've been fairly quiet. This, though, this will not do. We can almost tolerate the recalls on the bread-and-butter cars, but leave the performance vehicles alone.
According to a report from The Car Connection, GM has discovered a problem with the superchargers of the 6.2-liter V8s found in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Cadillac CTS-V. Apparently, the issue rests around the internal bearing shaft grease, which can become contaminated (we aren't sure with what). If left unchecked, it'll first lead to a rattle at idle, which goes away under slight throttle. The real warning stage is when a high-pitched squeal develops, signaling that the bearing shaft has failed. Naturally, severe engine damage is the next step (although it's possible that the engine will also just refuse to turnover, although neither case is desirable).
According to TCC, GM will replace the superchargers on vehicles that have exhibited symptoms of bearing shaft failure free of charge. It will also, allegedly, be extending the warranty on all supercharged ZL1s and CTS-Vs to 10 years or 120,000 miles (whichever comes first), from the date of purchase. Officially, only 2009 to 2013 CTS-Vs and 2012 to 2013 ZL1s are suffering from this issue.
Nine cars we wish were convertibles
Thu, Apr 16 2015The snow has melted, the sun is shining, and the days are getting longer. At the Autoblog Detroit office we feel like our winter hibernation is finally over. And with warmer temperatures come visions of opening up a convertible roof and cruising. You know, just turn up the bass and let the Alpine blast. There are plenty of droptops on sale in the US, and more on the way (like the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata). That said, we always want more. More! More! More! In that spirit, we cooked up a list of nine cars aren't currently sold as convertible, but ought to be. Check out our picks, below. Summer's just around the corner. Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S In some parallel universe, this car actually happened. Toyota showed us a FT 86 Convertible concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013, and we immediately started licking our chops over the thought of a rear-wheel-drive convertible based on the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S twins. These days, the MX-5 Miata is our only option for affordable roadster fun. A competitor to the Mazda seems like a no-brainer to us, especially since we have naught but good to say about the BRZ/FR-S as-is. Unfortunately in our present timeline, this car is as likely for production as a BRZ STI. Which is to say, not very. Dang. Lexus RC F Unlike the FR-S, a convertible from Toyota's luxury division might actually see the light of day. The current IS convertible is about to be phased out, and the Lexus LF-C2 concept from the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show is really a thinly veiled look at a possible RC convertible. A droptop RC would be plenty good, but let's reach for the starts. What we really want is to run topless in an RC F, complete with that powerful, loud, 5.0-liter V8 engine. Lexus says the RC F is a true competitor to the BMW M4. If that's true, it only makes sense for Lexus to mimic the Germans and offer its performance coupe in a folding hardtop form. Maybach Landaulet Maybach is bach back, recast as an upper crust trim level for Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Maybach S600 is seriously awesome, and more luxurious than a trip to the spa. But why not go a step into the truly ridiculous levels of extravagence and bring back that open-top Landaulet? We think your local princess will love this idea, and with better S-Class bones underneath, Jeeves will have a pretty enjoyable ship to steer, too. Besides, with that slick new Mercedes design language, a Landaulet redux wouldn't be nearly as hideous as the old model, pictured here.
De Nysschen says Cadillac will be ready for a $250,000 model in 15 years
Fri, Nov 21 2014Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen has some very, very lofty goals for the American luxury car manufacturer. That's according to a new report from Reuters, where the former Audi and Infiniti exec says that Cadillac is only 15 years away from selling a $250,000 car. "It is too early today for a $250,000 Cadillac," de Nysschen told Reuters at the LA Auto Show. "Fifteen years from now, it won't be." Now, provided de Nysschen doesn't envision a future of hyper-inflation, where an ATS rings up at $200K and a CTS at $225,000, the idea that Cadillac could sell a car worth a quarter-of-a-million dollars in just 15 short years is the very definition of ambitious. That's doubly true when you realize that, at present, Cadillac's most expensive vehicle is the Escalade ESV Platinum, which costs no more than $97,940, while de Nysschen said the upcoming CT6 sedan will be priced "in the 70s." What do you think? Could a Cadillac that costs well over twice as much as the brand's most expensive current vehicle be a reality in the distant future? Or is de Nysschen aiming too high too soon? Let us know what you think in Comments. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Jae C. Hong / AP Cadillac Luxury cadillac ct6
