1978 Cadillac Seville Opera Coupe 2-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
Grant, Michigan, United States
We were going to get this vehicle repaired completely and decided to sell it as is; quite honestly, we simply cannot afford to bring it up to shape at this time (we are retired), so, you get it at a great discount and get to bring it up to your specifications. When we parked it, it was looking, and running, great, so, what you see has pretty much happened just by being parked, in the garage, for those years. You will need to haul it home and all freight and shipping arrangements are for you to make - I am merely listing it to sell. I would like cash, but you may mail a certified check, and when it clears our bank you may pick up the vehicle. Upon your win, a $1,000.00 deposit is requested. The engine will run, but needs some tweaking; my husband thinks there are some bad lines on it; the brakes do not work either, he "thinks" that too is mostly lines, but we do not know for sure. The air conditioning is not working. The interior leather looks to be in very good condition, as well as the headliner, doors, dash, etc. It does not have the original radio, but if we ever come across, and it is a big "if", we will keep your address and mail it to you. The steering wheel is slightly damaged, and was that way when we purchased it. A flaw that has shown up that was not there when we parked it in the garage, is a small tear in the roof, maybe 1-1/4" or so. I am showing that in the pictures. The inside of the trunk looks great, and the carpeting in both the car, and the trunk, looks new yet. The body needs minimal repair work, and would look okay with just a good buffing, but should have some painting done, and a new plastic part on top of the rear bumper. I've listed at a very low price so you can do the repairs yourself.
There are 67,294 miles on this car. The tires were new when we parked it, with probably no more than 100 miles on them, so while they are still new, they are now old (probably still good, just trying to do full disclosure). If you would like to see the car, please contact me and we can arrange a viewing. |

Chrysler, Nissan looking into claim that their cars are industry's most hackable
Sun, 10 Aug 2014A pair of cyber security experts have awarded the ignominious title of most hackable vehicles on American roads to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, 2014 Infiniti Q50 and 2015 Cadillac Escalade.
Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek are set to release a report at the Black Hat hacking conference in Las Vegas, Automotive News reports. The two men found the Jeep, Caddy and Q50 were easiest to hack based not on actual tests with the vehicles, but a detailed analysis of systems like Bluetooth and wireless internet access - basically, anything that'd allow a hacker to remotely gain access to the vehicle's systems.
Considering this lack of hands-on testing, the pair acknowledge that "most hackable" could be a relative term - they point out that the vehicles may actually be quite secure.
Cadillac XT5 confirmed for 2016 as next-gen SRX
Wed, Jun 10 2015Cadillac's entire lineup of 2016 models gets a major infotainment upgrade this summer with improvements to CUE and integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There's one major exception for now, though. The SRX retains the old system until its all-new generation, called the XT5, debuts early in the 2016 calendar year. "When we transition into all new product lines, we will evolve the naming convention to suit the new classification we have announced. So SRX becomes XT5 next year," company spokesman David Caldwell said in an email to Autoblog. Earlier spy shots and rumors suggest the XT5 might be offered with a turbocharged four-cylinder and naturally aspirated six-cylinder engines, plus a nine-speed automatic transmission. For the rest of Cadillac's models, CarPlay arrives with the launch of the 2016 vehicles, and Android Auto joins later. Using either of them requires a connection via USB, and they add a new projection icon on the CUE screen. Once activated, both systems integrate with driver's phone and incorporate features like navigation, music, and contacts. They can also accept voice commands. Even for those that don't want to hook up a smartphone, CUE should work better thanks to a more powerful processor. Start-up times for the infotainment system are expected to be faster, and Cadillac claims that it's also more responsive for voice recognition, navigation searches, and media. The navigation interface is simplified, as well. The Escalade, CTS, and XTS can now be ordered with a 360-degree camera system to display on the screen. Cadillac Enhances Phone Integration for 2016 Models with Apple CarPlay, CUE Upgrades APPLE CARPLAY AVAILABLE AT LAUNCH; ANDROID AUTO COMING LATER IN MODEL YEAR 2015-06-09 NEW YORK – Cadillac's 2016 model year products will feature enhanced connectivity and control, including the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the predominant new systems for in-car phone integration. These additions are part of a broader enhancement of CUE, Cadillac's user experience, with new features and a faster, streamlined operation. Apple CarPlay will debut in 2016 Cadillac models featuring CUE's 8-in multi-touch screen except the SRX Crossover, a model that will move to an all-new generation in early 2016. Android Auto is expected to be phased into 2016 production at a later date. The 2016 model year will begin this summer.
Cadillac scraps three-row CUV plans
Fri, 23 May 2014Crossovers are one of the hottest automotive segments on the planet. Apparently, the idea of mixing the practicality of a station wagon with the looks of an SUV appeals to people whether they are in Cleveland or Shanghai because nearly every automaker is jumping into the market. So it was no surprise when early rumors suggested Cadillac was planning two, new CUVs to fit above and below the SRX. But things might have changed since then.
New rumblings indicate Caddy is taking a different route. Instead of two crossovers, only the compact is on the way, and the larger, three-row CUV on the Lambda platform to sit between the SRX and Escalade may be a goner. According to Ward's Auto, General Motors thinks that the other three-row, Lambda vehicles like the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia compete too closely with the proposed Cadillac. The decision comes fairly close to the 2017 intended production date.
As far back as 2010, this Lambda-platform based CUV was considered highly likely for production. However, Cadillac Senior Vice President Bob Ferguson was somewhat cooler about it when he discussed the new crossover briefly last year. He said the model could use the Escalade name, despite its unibody chassis, but no decision had been made yet to actually produce it.
