Up for auction today is a beautiful First Generation 1976 Cadillac Seville. I drive it nearly every day and it drives like a dream. I get all kinds of thumbs up and different gestures wherever I go with it. I am proud to drive it, and I might add that it is a pleasure to drive. It is a beautiful metallic silver with a matching gray vinyl padded top. The gray leather interior is supple and there are no rips or tears. Just the usual minor wear from age. It is the most comfortable car you can imagine. I will repeat the flaws in this car as I have already recorded elsewhere in this description.
There is a small amount of surface rust where top meet trunk below the rear window as well as one tiny spot of rust on the very front bottom of the drivers side front fender. The power antenna does not go all the way up but the AM/FM stereo sounds fine. Also the clock does not work as most of them dont and there are a couple of cracks in the top of the dash which is very common in these cars. All windows go up and down properly as well as the power seats. The main lock switch will open all four doors but for some reason it will not lock the passenger side doors. They do work but just will not lock from the drivers door, but as I stated earlier it will open all four doors. Also, there is a small minor leak in the power steering pump. It really leaks slowly. Not a bad drip, but something I want potential buyers to be aware of. Also, there is a scratch in the passenger rear door. The odometer reads just under 102,000. I hate to see it go but I have to do a lot of traveling and it will spoil the good in it to leave it out and put all of the miles on it. Plus I need something with a 4 or 6 cylinder that is gets better mileage. The mid 70's full size luxury cars weren't really made with fuel economy in mind. This car is a true survivor and could be completely restored or used as a daily driver. If I were keep it I would address the minor rust issues and have it repainted probably in a water based enamel. I'm quite sure that you could obtain the original color. I am pricing it with that in mind. It also has the original manual in its plastic case and the carpeting in the trunk. No floor or trunk rust issues. If you have any questions, please don'ghesitate to ask. I am pricing this car to sell, and it will be well worth the low reserve that I am placing on it. Consumer Reports loves the 2014 Cadillac CTS
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Our first drive of the 2014 Cadillac CTS was just published today... we really liked the Vsport version. And Consumer Reports has some even stronger words of praise for the all-new luxury sedan. We already knew that Cadillac had stepped up its game with the third-gen CTS, but CR bluntly states that the sedan drives better than its German luxury counterparts.
While CR shows plenty of love for the new CTS, the outlet still takes issue with some of the in-car technology including the CUE infotainment system - no surprise there. The testers' offer all manner of positive comments where the impressive handling capabilities of the sedan are concerned, with lots of drifting around CR's private test facility in evidence to bear them out. Cadillac dealers frustrated over Escalade production snarls
Wed, 20 Aug 2014Lincoln went through it during the launch of the MKZ last year, Jeep went through something similar with its Cherokee launch, and now the 2015 Cadillac Escalade has apparently caught the bug: dealer delivery delays because of quality control checks. Automotive News reports that Cadillac dealers have been waiting three times longer than usual - a month or more - from the time an Escalade leaves the assembly line to when it gets delivered. Worse, dealers are saying they don't always know where their vehicles are in transit, or when they are set to arrive. The situation has upset customers who have put down deposits and things have gotten so bad that some dealers have reportedly stopped taking pre-orders.
Cadillac says it has the delay, called "dwell time," down to two weeks, and it expects to cut that to a week by the beginning of September. The company said "a lengthy quality-assurance process on some interior parts" has caused the lag, the report citing additional issues with figuring out which vehicles should be delivered first. A spokesman said that more trucks have been put in the distribution system to work through the backlog, but it's clear it's still going to take some time to set things right, with one dealer telling AN that cars ordered in February and March still haven't arrived.
Brand chief Kurt McNeil said additional personnel are at the Escalade's Arlington, Texas factory to speed up the checks, and spreadsheets tracking every order have been distributed to field staff. Even with the snafu, though, the Escalade is Cadillac's best seller through July.
GM follows Ford and Honda in skipping SEMA
Fri, May 20 2022The list of automakers skipping SEMA has become longer. First reported by Muscle Cars and Trucks, and confirmed to us by a company representative, General Motors will not have an official presence at the aftermarket show. It joins Ford and Honda in leaving the show. It will be a large hole in the show, with the GM brands typically filling a significant swath of available show space in one of the main halls. GM hasn't provided much explanation for the move, either. The GM representative provided Autoblog with the same statement that Muscle Cars and Trucks got: "GM has made the decision not to participate in the 2022 SEMA Show. The SEMA show has always inspired us, and accessories and performance parts remain an important part of our business." We also asked if we would see any sort of announcements around the time of the show — Ford said it has plans to share some things around that time — however, the GM representative said that the company has no immediate plans for announcements. Certainly things could change between now and the November show, though. SEMA had previously noted that other exhibitors would help fill in some of the space vacated by these major OEMs. Another OEM, Volkswagen, is returning to the show after an absence, which will also help with the display deficit.
