Nr Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Limousine 5.7l Stretch Limo - Hess & Eisenhardt on 2040-cars
San Francisco, California, United States
runs good, always maintained. 3rd owner (my car for nearly 10 years). recently registered.
-rust bubbles present (see photos!!) behind rear window. rust on rear bumper, hood doesn't stay up on its own -vinyl top removed (needs to be reupholstered or painted) - adhesive etc. still on fiberglass (see photos) -accessories installed but currently non functional (mobile phone, sunroof, tv/vcr) could just be fuses or a simple wiring issue, I never wanted to hook them up so I'm not sure. accessories run off separate battery which works fine (modifications made by Hess & Eisenhardt, premier coachbuilders, car built for Cadillac) -driver's window only rolls down an inch, all other windows work but slow. -divider window (partition) between driver and rear cabin works! one glass window and one upholstered metal, each operates with its own switch controlled by either the driver or rear cabin. great privacy option & a rare feature on these older models (see photos!) -windshield cracked, requires replacement -would require a catalytic converter to pass smog in CA. -runs good, shifts good, brakes good -tread okay, missing a center cap on one hubcap, missing hood ornament -dash lights intermittent, as are odometer and digital speedometer which sometimes needs to reach speeds of 30 mph before it works (often reads 0 MPH until warmed up) -headliner needs replacement, blue velour some stains and burns but mostly in good shape. carpet weathered & stained, needs replacement. wood trim in good shape. Lots of work done over the years to ensure that it was reliable. Still lots of work needed to make it perfect again, thankfully nothing too major. The previous owner stated the car was Clint Eastwood's limousine when first elected mayor of Carmel though I never tried to have that fact verified. Lots of space, a powerful engine, a comfortable ride in front or back. Again its seen much better days, it is a running project. I'm really sad to see it go!! Make this classic Cadillac yours, today! YOU ARE NOT BIDDING ON A PERFECT CAR, SOLD AS IS. SALE FINAL PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION, PLEASE VIEW PHOTOS & DON'T HESITATE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS. THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST, GOOD LUCK BIDDING! |

2013 Cadillac ATS 3.6 AWD
Wed, 27 Feb 2013All-Wheel, All Right
There is no escaping the luxury all-wheel drive empire Audi has built for itself over the past 15 years. While nearly every high-end marque has at least one offering with power at all four corners, the hardware can't help but play second fiddle to Ingolstadt's Quattro kingdom. Leather-lined all-wheel drive is simply Audi the way minimum wage is an English degree. But General Motors seems hell-bent on raiding as many established fiefdoms as possible with the 2013 Cadillac ATS. Engineers and designers made no secret of the fact that the baby Cadillac was penned specifically to take on the BMW 3 Series, but Audi should be no less concerned about the newest luxury prince from Detroit.
GM has been stuffing all-wheel drive systems under their vehicles for years, but the effort hasn't come without nasty side effects. Unfortunate understeer, extra ride height, smallish wheels and porky curb weight meant opting for all-wheel drive was like signing your driving pleasure's death warrant. Would you like polished brass or brushed nickel hardware for your right foot's coffin, sir?
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
Combine a self-driving car with V2V, and here's what happens
Sat, Dec 12 2015Transportation engineers have started laying the groundwork for a traffic world in which cars communicate with other cars and infrastructure like bridges and traffic lights. How about an environment in which cars talk to pretty much everything and everyone? In a preview of its offerings at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, Delphi Automotive will deploy just such a concept. Engineers have designed a system that communicates with traffic signals, street signs, pedestrians, cyclists, even to fry pits and parking garages along a driver's route. To date, engineers and researchers across the auto industry have focused on the technical and safety-oriented foundation of future vehicle-to-vehicle communications, which could help cars share information about everything from traffic tie-ups to upcoming road hazards. Beyond those building blocks, many have projected that V2V could also include more consumer-focused features. Delphi's system, dubbed V2Everything, might be the first that combines those sorts of features in a tangible package. At CES in Las Vegas, scheduled to begin the first week of January, company officials say they'll demonstrate in real-world conditions how V2V technology can be used in an autonomous vehicle to provide a range of critical safety information and leisure and convenience options for riders. The first V2V technology installed on a production car is slated to appear on the 2017 Cadillac CTS. "We imagine a world with zero traffic accidents," said Jeff Owens, Delphi's chief technology officer. "To get there, we will need a convergence of active safety, sensor fusion, connectivity platforms and advanced software." Such software might allow a vehicle to start searching for and reserving parking spots at a programmed destination long before arriving. It could allow riders to place their McDonald's drive-through order from the road and have the food ready for pickup along the route. For the drive itself, the Delphi-equipped car can stay updated on the status of traffic lights around Las Vegas, and can anticipate yellow and red lights. Using smart-phone technology, the car can detect pedestrians and cyclists that may otherwise be hard to see. It can send messages to friends or family to notify them of a driver's location. Some of those features have been available on third-party apps or individually developed by automakers. But this system marries them together in a single system that is tailored for use in self-driving cars.
