This classic Cadillac was for somebody who could not
only afford Cadillac, but could spring for the best! This Big, long,
low, sixty special is as good as it gets! Extra rear leg room and
power vents and windows. Only those with a driver and limo had it
better. This ride comes with original owner information books along
with Protect-O-Plate.
Paint
Car
was painted some years ago. We do not have the year or information
on the paint, but it does match all the way around.
Car
has not been highly polished, so there is a small amount of orange
peel in the paint. Over all it looks pretty presentable for a driver
quality car.
Paint
has a few pin head size nicks on the front, and some areas chipping
around the windshield, and below the rear window.
If
you look closely car has imperfections in the paint. Repaint appears
more of an amateur look.
If
you look closely at the pictures you will see a few chips on the
edge of the doors that have been touched up.
The
red metal flake color, with the blue pin strips, was added not to
long ago. That work is very shiny, and free of flaws.
Body
The
top surfaces of the hood, roof, and deck lid are all very straight
and correct. There is a light dimple that is hardly noticeable on
the trunk lid.
Sides
of the car have had repair work at some time, and it is certainly
less then perfectly straight. It seems only on close inspection is
it most noticeable.
If
you look up close at an angle,(see pictures) you will be able to
detect less than perfectly straight areas on the side of the car.
Left
side has three to four small dimples, just above the back of the
fender skirt, as well as one little dimple on the skirt itself. The
right top side of the fender has a light dimple.
Some
light dimples on the drivers door, that can only be seen at an angle
and some light nicks along the bottom of the doors.
There
is some light surface rust on the inside edges of the trunk and
hood.
Magnets
Upon
making random readings on different parts of the panels, we did not
find any areas where there is clearly an absence of steel or metal.
Upon
inspection I found there was a possible light impact on the right
rear corner, and a little more filler is evident that can not be
picked up on photos.
Bright
work
The
stainless and chrome surrounding the window areas all appears to be
fastened well, and very nice and straight. Without noticeable dents
or damage.
The
stainless shines beautifully. The only noticeable wear would be the
finish edge around the rear vent windows, and the pieces just below
them have some light pitting in the chrome.
The
door handles show very little wear, with just a slight amount of
pitting on all four of them. (see pictures)
The
rear bumper has no apparent damage, but some light pitting. Mostly
on the two end pieces, and the insert on either side of the license
plate.
The
front bumper has very similar wear as the rear, even thought they
are very shiny. Front bumper does have dents on the bottom of the
right, and left side of the end pieces.
Glass
All
of the glass, with the exception of the windshield, is marked “soft
ray safely plate” with the LOF emblem on them.
All
of the glass is nice and clear with no delamination, cracks, or
bulls eyes.
Windshield
shows very little wear, and no windshield wiper abrasion.
Interior
Interior
looks as thought most everything is, or could be original. (With the
exception of the floor mats and the stereo that was installed below
the ashtray,) (Glove box was removed).
Interior
has survived very well over the years. The carpet has some wear, but
has held up well. (can be inspected in the pictures)
Chrome
and finish on the dash has held up extremely well, and shows very
little wear. The only exception is that above the radio there is a
small cracked section.
Visors
are solid, and the inside backing in not broken down.
Headliner
is all intact, and we do not see any seams or areas where it is
coming lose.
Door
panels appear to be as they where constructed, and there is a little
fading on the carpet (lower sections).
Interior
looks as thought it is much the way they where originally built.
Notice
in the back seat (by the bottoms on the right rear) a spot has been
pulled apart and repaired.
On
the front seat you see more wear and fading. Drivers side has some
wear
and
fading mostly the lower section. There is also a scuff, and a worn
area on the passengers side edge.(where you enter and exit car)
Driver
side you will also see a spot with some repair, up by the corner, as
well as some wear on the beading. Rings need to be pulled to bring
material around the edge. (simple repair but needs to be completed)
Steering
wheel does have some cracking at the three contact points. (fairly
minor with small cracks)
Trunk
Trunk
has spare tire with a circular disc cover, as they typically had.
Car
has jack and lug wrench.
Matting
is glued down, however you can see from the bottom side of the car
how dry, original, and rust free the car is.
Notice on the bottom side of the deck trunk lid, some
of the original information is still there\\

front- 235-75-15 Right front- 235-75-15
Left rear-
235-75-15 Right rear- 235-75-15
All four
tires have 9-10/32 tread remaining.
Engine
and Transmission
Under
the hood looks much as it was designed, and built without any major
modification (With the exception of a replacement battery).
Air
conditioning system has been converted over to
new style refrigerant.
Upon
driving, the car runs very nice and smooth, it
accelerates and decelerates properly.
Transmission
seems to be shifting correctly up and down.
Engine
over all seems to preform well.
There
is a little bit of an exhaust leak you can hear, but after the car
warms up it is hardly noticeable.
When
you turn your automatic dimers off, your manual high and low beam
does work.
As in most of these cars it is very common for the
automatic level control to be unhooked, and replaced with regular
air shocks. They typically stop working fairly early in the cars
life, and are not that reliable
Chassis
Upon
putting the car on a rack, the frame, and floor pan look to have no
rust perforation. (see photos)
Over
all the car chassis looks like it is left as it was designed and
built
Fairly
new brake lines running across the rear axle, and front brake hoses
are fairly new as well
The
exhaust looks solid with the exception that the muffler has been
scrapped, and there is a small hole in the back side of it.
There
is oil dampness on the bottom of the steering gear.
Rear
end has a minimal amount of fluid on the bottom.
Oil
leakage on the engine, and transmission area is a bit more than you
would typically see. However driving the car may help, or a replaced
transmission gasket would help much.
Front
springs have a help spacer on the right side, you can see new
stabilizer links on either side as well.
List
of mechanical parts tested
Headlights
work on both high beam and low beam
Front
and rear turn signals work on left and right side
Indicators
on the top of the fenders (for turn signals) are working
Brake
lights working
Back
up lights working
License
plate lights are working
Windshield
wipers work on all three speeds but washers not working
Tilt
and telescope wheel works correctly.
Horn
works correctly
Driver
adjustable outside mirror is working
Four
large side windows(that are power) do go up and down, however the
vents are not working %100 as they should. (two work intermittently)
Standard
radio and power antenna appear to be unhooked and may not operate
Compressor
seems to click on and run for the air conditioning system but the
air seems to be coming out of the top at all times. (not directed as
it should be)
Power
locks work
Power
seat works
Power
trunk release button works (power pull down not functioning)
Modern
AM/FM radio with single disc player works
Auto
dimmer seems to work

Welcome
to Auto Connection Connecting
buyers and sellers of unique vehicles
Conditions
of Sale: Auto
Connection is NOT a car dealer; but more like a real estate agent.
They are a 3rd party agent, representing both buyer AND seller. The
vehicles they sell are from private owners and collectors, and they
provide advertising, marketing, and consulting services for
individuals, companies, or dealers.
The
Auto Connection representative has physically viewed the item being
sold. The information comes from the seller and other research
sources. Auto Connection is not responsible for any misrepresentation
by the seller and/or errors in research results,
including history statements of vehicle history, repairs, etc.
This
vehicle is being sold AS IS and without a warranty, unless otherwise
stated.
Information
about serial numbers, engine numbers, and any other codes does not
guarantee a vehicle’s authenticity. These codes and numbers are not
guaranteed to be the same as the information on the vehicle ID or
vin, trim tag, engine block, cylinder heads, transmission,
differential, or other components within this vehicle. Auto
Connection does not guarantee documentation, authenticity, repairs,
mechanical work, titles, odometer discrepancies, matching numbers,
stamped engines, casting numbers, or any other codes, tags, or
numbers. The potential for reproduction paper documentation exists,
as well as restamped engines and reproduced trim/data tags.
Auto
Connection has described this vehicle to the best of their knowledge,
but does not guarantee the accuracy of the description. Prospective
buyers are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence, including a
physical inspection of the vehicle in person, or through a qualified
third party inspector/appraiser. We welcome inspections and even have
an 8 page professional vehicle inspection form you or your appraiser
can use.
The
vehicle will remain for sale until a buyer has placed a deposit on
it. This deposit is nonrefundable with the exception of the vehicle
being severely misrepresented by Auto Connection or the seller, or
stipulated in the Bill of Sale.
It
is possible that this vehicle will be sold at a higher price than the
highest bid (before or after the auction ends), if the reserve is not
met. After the sale (if reserve is met or not), Auto Connection must
receive at least a 10% deposit (wire transfer or official bank or
cashier’s check) within 3 days of the end of the auction (or the
Bill of Sale is signed). The high bidder/buyer has 10 days from this
time to send the balance in full or final payment and inspect the
vehicle (or have a 3rd party professional inspection).
For
the most part, the vehicle for sale is not “perfect”. It is
unreasonable to assume that every single flaw in the paint, body,
engine, etc. or any minor mechanical items (such as a light not
working) be considered a reason to refuse the vehicle. Major
rust/rot, undisclosed problems with the frame, etc. might constitute
a legitimate reason for the buyer to refuse to follow through with
the sale. In that situation, Auto Connection would negotiate with the
seller and buyer to try to reach an agreeable solution.
The
buyer acknowledges that he has had the opportunity to inspect the
vehicle to verify it is as listed and represented. He accepts the
vehicle with all advertised equipment, options and accessories in "AS
IS" condition with any faults or defects. The buyer will bear
all future costs of repairs or correcting any defects that exist or
may occur in the future. The seller will have no responsibility or
liability for any consequential damages or injury caused by any
failure or malfunction of the vehicle or any components. This car is
being offered for sale by owner. The buyer and seller acknowledge
that if the transaction is consummated and a dispute occurs relating
to the sale, the laws of Ohio (the state that the car is
located/sold) govern the rights and duties under the agreement.
PLEASE
READ THIS FIRST BEFORE YOU BID.
We
reserve the right to verify any bids to ensure all bids are
legitimate in order to protect the interest of the seller. You are

be able to pay cash or have all loans PRE-APPROVED before bidding on
this vehicle. Unqualified Bidding, Bid Shielding, Auction
Interference, and any form of harassment will be subject to legal
prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. We reserve the right to
notify bidders and cancel this auction. We shall not be held liable
for any such cancellation and/or closure. Bidder agrees to the
jurisdiction of Ohio "Stark County" for all disputes. By

At least one Cadillac exec has finally started to come to terms with something we knew all along: the initial $75,000 price for the ELR plug-in hybrid was way too high. The bad decision in part led to the model selling just over 1,000 units last year. Company marketing boss Uwe Ellinghaus recently gave an interview to Bloomberg where he discussed what went wrong. "The MSRP was, indeed, a mouthful," Ellinghaus said to Bloomberg. "We overestimated that customers would realize our competitors were naked at that price." People balked at the ELR's price from the very start, and dealers were receiving $5,000 at one point just for getting customers to test drive the PHEV. Later, some incentives for buyers were as high as $14,000. Cadillac planners saw a conundrum when it came to the ELR's price. Too low of a figure was thought to bring the model close to the Chevrolet Volt, and $75,000 was also believed to signal Caddy's PHEV as something special. "We just wanted to make this a statement for the brand of how progressive we are," Ellinghaus said to Bloomberg. Cadillac is now working to rehabilitate the ELR's reputation with a host of updates for 2016. Buyers get a 25-percent boost in powertrain output, additional standard features, and the whole package comes with a $9,000 drop in price. The tweaks should help the luxurious PHEV make a better second impression. Related Video:

The second half of the seventh and final season of Mad Men debuted this week, set to cap a run of public and critical acclaim. A decade's worth of interesting cars also made for good television, if you were paying attention. Vehicles didn't often steal the spotlight from Don, Betty, Roger, Joan and the gang, but they added meaningfully to the tone and beauty of the series. We sorted through the wheeled extras from Mad Men's archives, and choose some of our favorites to highlight. The list consists of cars that had at least a small impact on the plot of an episode, though certainly there are worthy gems hiding in just about every street and driving scene. Check out our subjective top five, and then let us know which of the Mad Men cars would be on your list. 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille – Season 2 Don Draper's Cadillac Coupe DeVille, all 500 feet of it, shows up in a few seasons of the show, but it's the first appearance that sets the tone. A Cadillac salesman, cut from the same cloth as Draper, asks what Don drives right now. "A Dodge," Don admits. "Those are wonderful if you want to get somewhere," allows the salesman, "this is for when you've already arrived." For a man on the move up corporate and social ladders that's a powerful message, and a pitch-perfect car. 1961 Lincoln Continental – Season 3 The most stylish Lincoln Continental ever is perfect set dressing for the mod show, of course. Though it's interesting that the car isn't cast as dapper Draper's ride, but rather his father-in-law's. Grandpa Gene does what all great grandfathers are bound to: lets his granddaughter Sally drive the big Lincoln while he works the pedals. Generational bond secured, in fine fashion. When you go back through the first three seasons of the show, you'll notice that Continentals show up more than once, too. There's nothing quite like them to evoke the best of the early '60s. 1963 John Deere 110 – Season 3 The only non-standard passenger vehicle on the list, no self-respecting gearhead/Mad Men fan should quibble with the inclusion of the John Deere 110 riding mower. For starters, the Deere is lovely to look at; a miniature version of the American Heartland icon in its green and yellow duds. The 110 appears as if milled from a solid block of steel, just the opposite of today's sleek, plasticky lawn minders (we're scouring Craigslist for one to bring home). The John Deere also has dear ramifications to the plot, too.

If ever there were a Cadillac to truly rival the world's best, this could be it. With every new model, Cadillac indeed gets closer and closer to actually performing at the top of its class, rivaling those crafty Germans at their own sport/luxury sedan game. The best example yet of Cadillac's efforts to challenge the world came last year, when we met the 2013 ATS - a vehicle that we praised for its on-road dynamics and interior refinement, and later went on to be named North American Car of the Year.
