1958 Cadillac Fleetwood

Up for sale is another great custom classic Cadillac, brought to you by
Halberd Classics LLC, Antique & Exotic Automobile Brokerage.

This beautiful fully custom 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood is truly a piece of art.  When our client decided to bring his vision to life, he first scoured the country in search of an untouched rust free car.  After finding this Cadillac as a completely original, 1 owner, nicely preserved example, the car was brought to Maryland for a 2 year customization project.

First to give this Cadillac a sleeker look; the door handles were shaved and electronic door poppers were added, mirrors were molded into the doors, access trim was shaved, and the stance of the car was lowered.  Faux side pipe exhaust was added and true dual real exiting exhaust was added with the grumble and roar of any 50’s hot rod.  The body was then painted in a grab everyone’s attention blue.  All of the chrome was replated during the customization and will polish up nicely.

The interior was completely redone in what can best be described as a combination of an original and upgraded look.  This Cadillac is
factory equipped with power windows, which were all reworked.  There is also still the functioning mechanism on the dash that will automatically adjust your high and low beams to oncoming traffic.  The pictures of the interior speak for itself.

The engine and transmission are the original 3’s matching equipment.  Both were gone through during the restoration.  The engine fires right up each and every time and idles nicely.  The transmission shifts smoothly just as it should.  Power brakes were added to provide this big Cadillac with plenty of stopping power.

Whether you are looking for a fun vehicle to cruise around town getting attention in, or simply looking to add an incredible vehicle to your collection; this 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood Custom is the perfect choice.

This is a 7 day auction with a fair reserve, so bid with confidence and bid to own.  The vehicle is for sale locally, so we reserve the right to end the auction early, before the reserve is broken. Please feel free to come inspect this awesome 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood Custom in person.

Confident new Cadillac marketing boss ready to take on Tesla, BMW

Thu, Jun 26 2014

When there's a former BMW executive heading Cadillac's efforts to boost sales of its only plug-in, it's a pretty safe guess that the marketing emphasis won't be on environmental friendliness and tree-hugging tendencies. The General Motors luxury brand has appointed ex-Bimmer executive Uwe Ellinghaus to be its marketing chief late last year, and the German-born Ellinghaus is now saying that he's targeting potential customers of Tesla Motors, in addition to BMW, for potential growth in sales of the Cadillac ELR extended-range plug-in. Appointed to Cadillac's head of marketing last November, Ellinghaus recently told Advertising Age that GM needs to highlight the Cadillac's looks and performance. He complimented Tesla for putting more emphasis on those attributes in the Model S than on its lack of emissions or lack of refueling costs (but Tesla hasn't shied away from highlighting the EV's savings). Ellinghaus says that trying to gear advertising "for people who are tree-huggers and green-wash an entire brand" won't be successful. You don't say. So far, the ELR hasn't made much of a dent in US car sales. Through May, Cadillac, which spent about $280 million on all of its US marketing last year, sold 293 units, whereas Tesla had been approaching the 11,000-unit figure for the Model S. With that in mind, Cadillac may be working on a sportier version of the ELR, as spy shots of a test vehicle from May revealed larger brakes and wheels. You can read our First Drive impressions of the ELR here.

All-Wheel, All Right
There is no escaping the luxury all-wheel drive empire Audi has built for itself over the past 15 years. While nearly every high-end marque has at least one offering with power at all four corners, the hardware can't help but play second fiddle to Ingolstadt's Quattro kingdom. Leather-lined all-wheel drive is simply Audi the way minimum wage is an English degree. But General Motors seems hell-bent on raiding as many established fiefdoms as possible with the 2013 Cadillac ATS. Engineers and designers made no secret of the fact that the baby Cadillac was penned specifically to take on the BMW 3 Series, but Audi should be no less concerned about the newest luxury prince from Detroit.
GM has been stuffing all-wheel drive systems under their vehicles for years, but the effort hasn't come without nasty side effects. Unfortunate understeer, extra ride height, smallish wheels and porky curb weight meant opting for all-wheel drive was like signing your driving pleasure's death warrant. Would you like polished brass or brushed nickel hardware for your right foot's coffin, sir?

Mark Reuss: GM can't afford product 'misses,' has 'thought about' CT6 V-Series

Thu, Apr 9 2015

Mark Reuss is a busy man. He oversees General Motors' global product portfolio, an all-encompassing task for a company that sold more than 9.9 million cars and trucks last year. When GM launches a well-received product, like the road-going rocket ship that is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – he gets credit. When the company stumbles with the slow-selling Chevy Malibu or grapples with fallout from the decade-old Saturn Ion and its flawed ignition switch, he gets blamed. GM owners, the press and sometimes the federal government, demand answers. Bob Lutz famously held the job before Reuss. So did Mary Barra, who's now GM's chief executive. There's a New GM, but the lineage is connected to a long history. When he's not thinking product, Reuss, an executive vice president, also runs the purchasing and supply chain for the company, which is still one of the largest industrial empires in the world. We caught up with Reuss on the floor of the New York Auto Show, where GM had just rolled out two crucial new products: the 2016 Cadillac CT6 and the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Speaking with a small group of reporters, Reuss delved into a variety of subjects, including the new Malibu, Cadillac's future (he thinks the ATS-V is going to "flame the M3 and M4"), and other topics. On fixing the Malibu: "We can't miss. We can't have those kinds of misses [like the previous generation] on our cars and crossovers and trucks. We can't do that. If we do that, we give a reason for someone to go buy something else. It's that simple. "On a car like the Malibu we have a chance to really fix all of that, which we have, and then lead. Then you've got a real opportunity there. So that's what we've really been focused on here – to fix those things." He later added: "We need that car here to transform Chevrolet desperately because it's the heart of the market. And when you think of Chevrolet, people will come back and think about what we did with the [new] Malibu and the Cruze... It's hugely important to us." On Cadillac: "If we go out and try and out-German the Germans, it's probably not going to work. We've got an opportunity here generationally where there's a lot of people younger than me that have parents that drove BMWs and Mercedes, and I think there's an opportunity there for those people to drive something different than what their parents did, and I think that's always been an opportunity in the auto industry if you look at the history of it.
